Is there anything left? We planted Tecomate Ultra Forage, planted in the last week of August. It reached a max height of close to 3', and right now it is just stalks and some turnip bulbs. So much for them not being attractive to deer until the weather turns cold!
If you planted, what did you plant, and is it still getting utilized?

Uhh, the first frosts came months ago. Not sure I understand what your saying. It doesn't take snow, just some cold nights.

I'm sorry, I forgot I have to specifically illiterate everything here. Our brassicas were getting heavy browse traffic 5 weeks before the first frost. I was expecting some foliage to be left by this time of year since it is considered a "late season" plot. All that is left now are the bulbs and stalks, so this "late season" plot has little left to offer! :nono:

Good grief, no need to get defensive. I honestly didn't understand what you were saying.

I wasn't defensive! I just seriously forgot to clarify my point. Relax, breathe deeply. ;)

Next year you will need to plant more. Ours are still doing well, but we planted almost 2 acres of Prograze, and the Merit seed blend. I think ours have not been destroyed yet, because of the big acorn crop this year at our place.

We had just under 2 acres! It is also right beside 2 acres of Tecomate chicory. They still destroyed the brassicas early.
I was just curious if everyone else had the same thing happen this fall. I'm sure we'll plant 'em again sometime in the future. They grew like they were on steroids and the deer loved them. That's a good combo. :)

Picture taken yesterday. The deer are pulling the turnips out and are also really chowing on our Merit Forage Oats, which are still about 10" tall.

My Biologic Full Draw is pretty much down to stems, they'll be pulling the turnips out and eating them most any time now. I had a couple small plots of Merit Appin brassica and it still has some green tops to it, they just never hit it as hard as the biologic.

All I have is a field of dirt in my Wintergreens field. The deer ate everything by Nov. 1st. Next spring I will replant. I have way too many deer.

I planted late and with no rain in SE Ohio, they grow only to be 10" tall. All gone but the stems. They started browsing after the second frost. Not sure there is much of a turnip to pull out. I have to plant early in August next time and hope for more rain.

Are there any outlets for turnip/brassica seeds without going through the "whitetail" bagged products? Didn't know if the agriculture seed dealers would have anything less expensive? Seems like all the clovers and alfalfas are normal seeds just repackaged.

We bought some purple top turnip seed through a local ag store. I believe it was a whopping $2.25/pound. You can pick up the turnip seed fairly cheap, in other words.
