Well if you read the title and thought there may be something negative here, you may want to click the back button. I just wanted to share a very positive experience I just had with this company.

As everyone is aware opening day for gun season it was a very wet day. I went out into the field confident that my gear would not soak through because I was wearing Gander Mountain's own Guide Series Tech20 gear. Well unfortunately my ass literally got soaked and my coat began to soak through. I was a bit displeased with this, but dryed my clothes and went back out. I was lucky enough to get a deer the following day. When I returned home I decided to try to contact Gander Mountain in reference to this incident because I thought well it's their own clothing line, maybe they have something to say about it. So I filled out an online comment card and called corporate. Well a few hours later I received this email from corporate:

Dear Mr. ,

We have received your survey here at the store. I would be more than happy to return this product for you. This is not a normal issue with these garments. Unfortunately, you may have purchased a set that is a factory defect. For this I am truly sorry. You may bring these items back at your convenience. Please ask for a manager when you stop in. We appreciate your business and we will be more than happy to assist you.

Thanke for your comments,

Matthew Buck

The following day I returned to the store and sure enough I was able to exchange my clothes which were purchased nearly a year ago for a brand new set. This incident alone has made me a permanent customer. It's not often you get this type of customer service from a large chain store anymore. For this I am thankful and have decided to share my positive experience with all of you. Gander Mountain really supports their products and really supports their customers.

Thanks for sharing. It is good to know that there are still stores out there that will still stand behind their products. I spend alot of money each year at Gander. Good to know I will get treated right if the occasion comes about.

Thanks for the info...it is always good to know a company is willing to stand behind its products.

I also have a pair of their bibs, and got a wet a$$ Monday and Sunday. I called the store today, and they said to bring them back for an exchange. The only problem is, that I have Mossy Oak, and they only have Realtree hardwoods. I might not match with my jacket, which is not the Gander Mountain brand. :nono:

It's what you would expect the deal to be BUT would wonder driving back over ther if you were gona end up spending the next 3 years letter writing to get an exchange coupon. Horay for them :)

Don't worry I don't think most hunters know what "matching" clothes means ;) In all seriousness I don't think the non-matching pattern makes a difference.

That was a joke, totally tongue in cheek.

I am totally mismatched when it comes to my camo, I have Advantage, Mossy Oak, Realtree etc.. I do like the Mossy Oak though. BTW, they did the exchange for me. In fact, they gave me a choice of the Tech2O Guide Series in Hardwoods, or the Guide Series in Goretex, which happened to be Mossy Oak, and more money, which they did not have to do. So, Gander Mountain will continue to get business from me and others that I tell about how they stand behind their products. I took the Mossy Oak/Goretex combo, since I wouldn't want my bib camo pattern to be different than my hat. LOL

That's good to know. My 2 yr old set of Tech20 behaved quite well on Monday, so much so that I want to get another in Orange if they make them. Always nice to know that I'd be treated right if I ran into a problem.

Ok i was gonna say....lol.

As for the above poster, they have the 7 in 1 parka w/ an orange liner, but I don't believe the liner is Tech2O material.

Also, I was at Gander Mt yesterday and all their Guide Series products were BOGO half off. Not sure if its statewide, I was at the one in Twinsburg in Summit Co. I love that place.

LL Bean will do the same type of thing, they dont care if you have a receipt, or what they just make every attempt to please the customer.

As far a rain gear goes, I have yet to see one piece of rain gear that will keep you 100% dry 100% of the time, and Goretex, etc., no matter how breathable if you are moving about you will get some sweat and condensation.

Glad to hear the positive feedback on Gander Mt. Seems I alway end up going to Cabelas or Bass Pro. I'm going to have to visit their store in Mentor.

Nothings 100% sure except death and taxes :) But being sweaty wet and saturated wet is night and day.

I know I'm not saying anything new here but it's worth repeating...layer your clothing properly, and you can stay very very dry, even on the wettest days. Wick the moisture away from your skin. Then the gortex outerlayer is key in windbreaking and keeping out external water while still being able to "breathe". You will know when the gortex has been "compromised" that's for sure! It will usually be in stressed areas of the garment, such as the seat of your pants :D
