Anyone hunting in this area? Looking for a report on the activity around SR 279 and SR 139 (log cabin c/o area). Just curious.

Havn't hunted it lately, but it has always been a good area. Not safe to drive thru that intersection at night. Medock? not sure of the spelling leased his land in that area S.E. of the intersection to some guys from N.C. Heard they got all their stuf stolen.

I live on White Gravel. Havent seen much (any). Wondering if anyone else is having the "season of their life".

Ill look up that "medock"(sp) property on the GIS and see were your talking about. There are alot of theives here in Portsmouth; no doubt!!!

I hunt on Swauger and Salem Rd. Not seeing much this year- My friend shot at one the other day and flat out missed :D He said it was around 4 in the afternoon and the buck was cruising a clearcut. By the way I teach at Minford.

I am at the middle school- 8th grade teacher- The name of the man that leased the land is Meldick- I tried to get into a lease with him but he already leased that land to a group from NC. He owns all the land around the 139 and 279 intersection. One of our football players family owns the property behind the log cabin carryout- Across the road is leased up. Hope this helped. BakerBoy was correct on the leasers getting their stands stolen from that place- They had the person pinned in the woods when it was going down but he got away.:nono:
