I am thinking about purchasing me an Omega Z-5. I have heard nothing but good things about this gun, including the price tag. Does anyone on here have any experience with this gun? I am looking for a gun that is easy to clean, yet the breech closes shut to prevent rain and snow from getting in. Any info would be appreciated.

When I bought my muzzleloader a few weeks ago, I was deciding between the Omega Z5 and the CVA Optima Pro. I went with the CVA, mainly because I did not want a blued barrel, and the nickel or stainless T/C's were much, much higher priced than the CVA Optima Pro. I shot it several times after I got it to get it sighted in, and it shoots GREAT! With 100 grains of Pyrodex pellets and a 200 grain T/C Shockwave sabot, I had a 3-shot group slightly over 1.5" at 100 yards. I'm very pleased with the CVA, but have heard great things about the Omega, as well.

My buddy has one,it shoots great. It seems to like a variety of different bullets. I think TC puts out a good product. I think the new knights look good also. I shot a disc elite that my buddy bought and it was a real shooter. The sportsmans guide has some good deals on muzzleloaders.

I don't own an Omega but do own 6 T/C firearms, several extra barrels an 2 scopes. I have had very good luck with their products and wouldn't hesitate to buy anything they put their name on.

Congrats Jeff! I love mine, until I picked up the Optima Elite! :D

I think the Omega's are great guns, but not sure if they are worth the extra money. I think CVA is on top of their game and since they don't drop the big bucks to get Lee, Tiffany, Stan, Michael, and all the familiar pretty faces to support their products, no one knows about the quality of their products. But I do know the price tag doesn't show the "pretty faced" inflation...

I can get a Z-5 for $250. How is that price high?

The Omega Z5 is black stock/blued barrel. That same option in the CVA Optima Pro from NatchezSS.com is $199.99. Here is the link:

http://www.natchezss.com/brand.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=CV&category=0&prodID=CVPR3000

I wanted a nickel/stainless barrel and a camo synthetic stock, which was $259.99 from Natchez. That same style gun in a T/C Omega from Cabela's is on sale for $459.99, regularly $509.99!!!

Here is that link: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0012644214675a&type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results2.jsp&Ne=2510&noImage=0&Ntt=omega&Ntk=Products&QueryText=omega&Ntx=matchall&N=3753&trueNum=47

To get the finish and style of gun I wanted, it was $200 cheaper to go with the CVA, and it has been awesome for me. This is no "chincy" quality firearm.
