I decided I better read the youth hunt rules, and then called the ODNR, to confirm. You cannot carry a weapon while hunting with the kid you are going with. You are considered a non-hunting adult, even on your own property. The kids are only allowed one deer this weekend, regardless of the weapon. I was planning on carrying my bow while hunting with my daughter, but I guess I can't after talking to the ODNR. I am not sure if I agree with this, but I guess I will abide by it. Even if she tags out with a gun, she cannot continue to hunt with a crossbow for the rest of the weekend. They can however hunt with you as an observer if they are tagged out. We will both have weapons tonight though, she will be using a crossbow, and I will have my bow.
