I just got a nikon omega scope for my 50 cal omega, and I want to know what 250gr bullet is working the best for you that have one.
I have been playing around w/ the 200 & 250 gr Shock Wave. At this time, I am at the 200 Gr. w 100 grains of 777. at 100 yards I have 3/4 " groups and at 50 yards, all holes are touching as 1 big hole.(it was a windy day)
You should look over the past posts in the reloading/shooting forums. I got a lot of good input a week or 2 ago.

Probably the most common and popular load for performance would be the 250 shockwave with 2-3 pellet loads of Pyrodex or T7. The Nikon(sighting rings)is set up for 3 pellets and a 250 bullet.
Two of my friends shoot 2- 50 and 1 -30 gr pellets of T7. They both have big issues of building up a crud ring in the barrel at the top of the power charge column. This crud ring is exclusive to T7 only. Mnay of switched to Pyrodex and eliminated the crud ring bullet seating problems.
Others swear that they get better accuracy and performance from using loose powders versus the pellets. Just remember that these guns are NOT rated for
150 gr. equivalent of loose powder, only 150 gr. of pellets. The pellets are not as hot as loose powder in volume.
Their guns are very accurate and you should have no problems getting yours to shoot well. I did have to order some HPH24 sabots for one of them that had a tight barrel. He couldn't get the shockwaves down his barrel they were so tight. The other guy has no problems. If you have an extremely tight barrel I can direct you towards some replacement sabots that will make your life easier.

I just checked and the shockwaves are all being supplied with the HPH 24 sabot this year. The previous HPH 12 supplied sabot was too tight of fit for many guns.
A tight fit in a MZ is very important to accuracy and reduced standard deviations in FPS , but needing a hammer to drive the load down the barrel is excessive.:D

I have an Omega w/ the Nikon Omega scope. I shoot 150 grains of T7 and also shoot the 250 grain TC shockwave as the scope recommends. The gun groups extremely well and out to 200 yards shoots DEAD ON!!! Extremely impressive for a muzzleloader in my book!;)

So it's not just me problems getting the Shockwave down? I about have a hernia getting the thing to seat into place. Eventually the ramrod is going to snap. But they do shoot good:)

I just learned this myself and hope it helps. In between shots use a damp spit rag that you clean the bore out. Their is a term "Fouling" that builds up on the bore making it hard to seat your shot. Once I did this I had no problem starting the bullet. If once the bullet has gone in and it starts to get to tight at the breach end its time to clean it all the way thru. You will beable to tell once your ram rod doesn't travel the distance is should be.
