I am planning a trip to Alaska and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on reloading for this gun.
I have a friend who is going to reload for me and it is $10-15 cheaper than factory boxes.
I was thinking about a nosler tip in 260 or 300 gr. and norma brass.
All comments appreciated.

If you plan on hunting dangerious game man sure that every round will chamber easily if you shoot reloads. Also if you have any mis-fires you may want to go with factory ammo. I`ve never hunted Aferica and don`t know what game your going after, but you should load bullet weight according to what it will take to knock down the game. If your close to Urbana I would recomand the you stop in at the gun shop there, the guy that runs it has bee to Aferica several time and could tell you just what you need to know.

Not that it matters, but it is Alaska, not Africa.

TROPH-E-HUNTER, Have fun on your trip to Alaska, I hope you can reload with your friend. You'll get more out of it and maybe come up with a great load for your gun!!!! I bet he'd be happy to show you? Jeff

Well, it would help if we knew what you were hunting for?
Catfish made a good point about the chambering thing.:)

I will be hunting for moose, but can take a caribou or black bear with that tag instead since the latter two are lesser animals.
Also, my Winch 70 is a safari grade with a double claw bolt so it will grip the shell on both sides, just not one like most other rifles. This helps to insure a quality extraction and loading.
