Sounds like the reason most people aren't using it is there is no one there when they go there. A schedule to try it might help.

I am not a fan a chat rooms, but I'll give it a try.

The best time for the Michigan campfire seemed to be around 8pm on Thursdays.

I think the key to having a successful chat will be discussing 1 topic at a time, whoever does the scheduling can schedule what is going to talked about per session and when. When you have a free for all chat session it usually ends up in a knock down drag out, but the rules should be the same as the forums since kids could also visit the campfire. The key is an informative chat where all can be involved, that way we all can learn something and keep it on one topic at a time, member's could submit to the scheduler topics of discussion to be talked about and that person could schedule it accordingly. I see a high success rate possible, but you have to have member support in order to make it possible and successful.

You can also have several discussions going on at once in different channels in there.

Is there a way to know what topic is on what channel?
Could there be a designated channels w/ their own topics? Like channel 1022 would be about rimfires, ch'l 45 would be about pistols, & 382436 would be about old girl friends. :D

Steve will have to get a bigger server for channel 382436.
