alright, got this picture of this buck, I belive him to be a "managment" deer, broken up rack and not growing the right side rounded, definately not the perfect racked buck...the point is i dont really want to put someone on this deer if he is younger than i belive he is...so i think that the picture shows him to be 3 years old, but i could be wrong and he may only be 2, so i need your opinons..thanks

You've been watching too many Texas hunting shows. If you want to shoot him, do so. If not, no need to worry about it.

I would say that it is most likely 2 1/2. The only way to tell his true age is through a tooth, so best guess will have to work. I would almost guarantee he is no older than 2 1/2, but who knows. Good luck!

I think we still have a weekend of gun season, more bow season and muzzleloader season to go. Nothing he said indicates that he is going to have the deer poached. That was a little uncalled for. Think about what you are typing before you post it next time.
I agree with everybody else, 2 1/2. I would give him a pass.

Since he has probably already passed his genes on to at least a doe or two if he is 2.5 years old, it makes no sense to "cull" him as a management buck. You may kill him, but his genes will most likely keep on going. So what good does it do to kill him for management purposes if his genes are still in the pool? :coco:

He was meaning he was going to decide if the deer should be shot or not and then pass it on to those family members he had in mind to either shoot the deer or not. I know Kaleb was not meaning he would shoot it and then have one of them tag it in.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to accomplish with these comments. If Kaleb didn't post his age you would never know he was only 16. I think he has a pretty good understanding on what he wants to accomplish on his property. He is wise beyond his years. I wouldn't expect you to understand that, you just got here. Go back and read some of his post, you may actually learn something. The only thing that I've learned for you so far is that you like to single out this young man. Think back to when you were 16, I doubt that you really had anything to add. As far as I'm concern you still don't. Give him a break and take the time to read some of his post before start flaming him.
And by the way, welcome to Ohio Sportsman. Your off to a rough start.

Look at his avatar picture. The kid knows what he is doing. And as far as I'm concerned, family or not, if I show up to hunt his land and he tells me not to shoot a deer because it needs another year, I'm going to respect that whether or not he is 10 or 40. Its young men like Kaleb that are the future of the sport. With all the information at their finger tips, they will transcend anything we will ever accomplish in this sport.
I'm 25 and I tell people all the time what deer they can shoot when they visit my property and you know what? No one ever has a problem with that because they KNOW me and KNOW how serious I am about managing my herd. Am I too young to be asking family and friends to lay off a certain deer? At what point does your age suddenly entitle you to make those decisions?

Actually it does, My dad and I are the only ones that bowhunt any of the propertys, and I ocasionally get my grandpa out for gun season..Did I mention that I'm the one that runs trail cameras, does tons of scouting, finds spots for stands(sometimes need help to hang some) Do majority of food plots, scout more, Shed hunt and scout once again, and Everynow and then I get out to hunt:whistle: :yikes: ....... So pretty much no small bucks get shot if i say so:D
