Well it seems that even though I saw a few nice bucks the other day, the majority of chasing is still being done by the small bucks... I give the bigs boys another 5 days and they'll be out...

Up until this last weekend I hadn't even seen a big buck, and now it's like I'm being swarmed by small ones... I did have a decent one come in this morning that would have probably gone in the high 120's, had he had all of his points still intact. He had a broken brow and a broken G-2, so I decided to let him walk.. I'm sure someone else will shoot him...

On another note they are definetly responding to grunting, it seems anything that sounds like a deer grunt catches their curiosity. I also had two bucks come in last night grunting up a storm, then they both turned on each other and battled it out for about a minute, kinda cool to see them slamming antlers like that. I was using my decoy on almost every outing in the last couple of days, but as responsive to grunting as they are I figure I'll keep the decoy at home for another week or so and just use the grunt call.

Well enough for now, what are the rest of you guys seeing out there in the woods??

I have seen three bucks while hunting this year so far. I didn't see any unitl last week. I had only hunt four days prior to that, so I wasn't overly disappointed. I have seen two scrubbers and one that may get shot if he walks in front of my little cousin or Tracie.

Last night Fluteman and I saw 10 bucks. Two were border line, the rest were young bucks. We saw one with a beautiful 8-point side. But he just had a spike on the other. Would have been a 115" 8 if he had matched.

They are not moving much on my farm. But at our honeyhole they were dogging left and right. Not 2 miles from our honeyhole is where we saw that "unicorn" buck. Across the road from him were to two borderline bucks and a scrubber feeding together with 3 does across the road from them. No sign of the rut.

Down the road a mile, two scrubbers were dogging a doe hard in a hay field. I think it is still a few days from the big boys getting at it. Last year on November 4th is when I saw the first mature buck cruising. He didn't care about my grunt tube or can call. He was just on patrol.

This weekend is when the big boys will get at it...
