Finally got him.

I went out at 3 today and had a nice quiet evening until about 6:15 when I had a couple does come in to around 20 yards. They eventually spotted me and took off blowing up the hill behind me. Less than a minute later the yotes started howling all over the place down the hollow from me. About 6:35 pm I decided to hit the grunt call one more time before getting down. As soon as I did I heard what sounded like a young buck grunting way back on the hill behind from the direction the does ran. I grunted again and here he came down off the hill. I grunted everytime he stopped to look around and he would take off for me again. Finally after about 3 grunts and 50 yards he started heading away from me into thicker woods off to my right. I immediately did a serious of hard grunts, he did a 180 and came in just like you hear about to 10 yards where I double lunged him. He went about 60 yards downhill on his face. The first couple pics are where he fell, the last is myself and my buddy who helped with the drag. Gotta love the rut.

Thanks guys...yeah it was pretty much amazing how much he reacted to the grunt....he came charging off a steep hill behind just bellowing his head off. He stopped and looked around so I grunted once and he started again. I was about 20 yards into the woods off a gas line and once he got even with me he stopped and started to go into the woods on the other side, I guess he wasnt a very good locator. Thats when I really hammered it, thats when he turned right around and came in on a string like everyone says. He was about 50 yards when I last grunted while he was walking away. So once he turned, he came into to my side of the woods, grunting the whole way, with those real deep grunts, the loudest I have ever heard. He acted like he was goin to walk broadside in front of me from my right but once was diagonal to my right he made a left hand turn up to the right of me. Well that meant I had to move my feet. He was at 10 yards. He heard me move my feet of course, this is a tricky stand location where I get busted alot. Anyway, I was lucky as there were a couple trees between us, one closer to him and one right next to me that I could reach. I peeked around and seen him looking up at me. He took a step, I drew. Leaned out to the right. All I could see was his front half and I let him have it. Went in a little high for my liking, but with me being 25 feet high and him being 10 yards on a sidehill lie(golf term I know) I double lunged him. I was pretty tired last night to type alot so I figured I would elaborate today.

Hey man, congrats on the deer. Sorry I was working and couldn't help with the drag. Every deer but one in the past two years you have killed while I've been at work. Good job man. It feels good to see you get a nice deer after all the hard work we have put into scouting this year. Now all we can hope for is that I can pull through and get one.

Acually, I will almost bet you 100% that it is the buck on the left in the first pic. Look at the body size. The darkness in the face and the rack is identical especially, the G2 on the rt side. These pics were taken about 500 yards away from where you shot him.
