I got an email back to my inquiry about wanting to visit a fish hatchery I was told was in Akron, it seems there is no hatchery there as I was told by an odnr employee.......the lady that answered my email said rather rudly when I asked about individuals like me wanting to milk crappie or walleye and return the eggs to the water...she said quote " you don't want to milk the eggs from fish and return them to the water "

no explaination as to why NOT.........any way here is a web site where hatcherys are located in Ohio....

although she sounded rude she was right and she should have offered an explanation. you cant just squeeze the eggs and sperm out and then put them back in the water. chances are they will not survive. timing is very crucial as to when the gametes are ready and then they only have a limited time to fertilize once they contact water. ( after spawning 152 million salmon eggs a year over the past 3 years you learn a thing or two.)
