Good thing there is no team that shoots only Mathews! I just wouldn't be much of a contest if that was the case. Lets see what the Hoyt boys have to say about that!

Give Bowtech another...I shot a doe last week...lol...Probably add a couple more this weekend...hopefully..Seems like when I'm not wanting to shoot a doe they are everywhere...soon as the kill light starts flashing the does dissappear.

I guess that you can give Mathews another also. I killed 2 does but only entered the one. I think the scoreboard will start to reflect the cooler temps moving in. Dealing with dead deer in this heat wave hasn't been much fun. I think I'm going to lay off the does until gun season.

I was keeping this for those entered into the contest, but we can do a total. I love all the trash talking when it comes to equipment, so I thought this would make fore some good entertainment. And to prove once and for all... "Catch us if you can!" :D  ;) :mischeif:

Remember that goober I said told me about the 48" and 39" main beam spike? Well he was giving me shizzle about shooting a Mathews. He's my age and perfectly healthy. I defended my choice of weapon be reminding him of its superiority and then asked him what he shot. A fuggin' Horton!!! :yikes: I have no problem with people who use crossbows, except for those healthy individuals like that use one because, and I quote "I don't even need to practice its so accurate. That thing is deadly to 60 yards no problem." And he was giving me crap about shooting a Mathews!

"Get Serious" boys........Mathews. I didn't know they still made bows. Last word I got was they make a mean harp!:16suspect1:
If you guys have been paying attention PSE is comin after you, and I think they caught you and are long gone! X-Force is here and it is pretty awesome. Kinetic energy and speeds this thing is producing is pretty unbelievable.

Bowtech just came out with one thats faster than the PSE not to try and say it's better, but I heard the IBO was 350ish, and the PSE was something like 340??? can't remember the exact numbers, but it is supposedly truer to it's IBO speed than any other bow.... just what I have heard

add yet another one for mathews!!! I downed one this morning with muh outback and i must say it was awesome!
I shot bowtech over the weekend and not to put anyone down but they were by far the worst shooting bow i have ever shot. It was so rough when drawing it that i wasnt even sure if I was at full draw or not.

Look at the test. Kinetic energy is all I am concerned with. Just look at the comparison. PSE is right around 83.0 to 72.0 there was no or is no other bow that came close to it.

That may be an issue if your shooting cape buffalo. Deer are thin skinned,it doesn't take much energy to zip right thru them. I have killed a lot of deer with a compound and only one wasn't a complete pass thru. Maybe PSE is catching up with the big three. If I get a chance I will check them out. I find it hard to believe that it can be any smoother than my Mathews.

gentlemen,i lost 8 yrs of bowhunting because of a bad left wrist and a bad right shoulder.now i do have a few more years on my mistreated body then most of you.my question is; am i gonna be smacked because i shoot a horton?my choice is a compound, but i have nothing against a x-bow,it gives some of us older fart a chance to get back out into the stands and do the thing we love, but if you want to smack me,go for it ,i have broad shoulders!!!:p :p :p

I have nothing wrong with crossbows at all as long as the people that use them can shoot them accurately. Up untill this year I used an xbow and I spent more time on the range then most people that i know who use compounds.

Won't get any smack from me Odie. My dad wants to go back to his Onieda, but has a shoulder problem, so he stays with the Horton. I have used both, and gotten deer with both. Every deer I have killed with the crossbow, has been shot at under 10 yards! If I decide to use my crossbow, and someone wants to bash me over that, big deal. I agree with trap, just know your limitations, "which I feel are greater with a crossbow than with a compound", and practice with YOUR weapon of choice, so that you are proficient with it. The same thing goes for this bow argument, what I like in a HUNTING bow may not be what 10234, or buckstar25 likes, and that is fine. Unless you are shooting extensive 3D tournaments, I think all the hoopla is BS and marketing anyway. I shoot an older Bear Vapor 300, I have thought about getting a new one, but haven't yet. Why? It does the job, and has not let me down yet. It is the Indian, NOT the arrow to quote an old cliche'.

I have no problem with crossbows. I thought I was going to have to use one this year. I had shoulder surgery at the beginning of August. I know I'm on borrowed time with my compound. Eventually I will make the switch also. It's all about what you like. I'm not about to judge someone for using a crossbow. I hope this thread doesn't turn in to crossbow bashing. I still think Mathews is the best, but a Horton is not bad either:D .

i didn't aim to turn it into a mud slinging contest, but i love to read all the wolfing on each other about their choice of bows.i think a person should shoot whatever you feel confident and comfortable with.when the moment of truth arrives, there should be no question in your confidence of your equipment.downing x bows was definently not my intension.

I think the thread was started to stir the pot. I didn't take it too seriously. I'll the first to admit that there is alot of quality bows on the market. I tried some others before I bought a Mathews. It's just what felt the best to me.

Trap,
Were you shooting the Bowtech Guardian by any chance?? The 70lb Guardian is one hard pulling bow, however the 60lber is as smooth as silk.. I was kinda surprised at how hard the 70lber pulled...
I shot both the Switchback XT and the Bowtech Liberty, brand new off the shelf... I'll admit, bare bow the switchback was quieter, but I felt both were extremly smooth pulling... However after a little tweaking with my Liberty I have gotten it completly silenced...
Really the only reason I bought the Liberty is because it was a leftover 05' and about 300$ cheaper than the new price... I would like to have a Switchback though...
I think Mathews and Bowtech both make some great bows... I'm not much of a Hoyt fan anymore, they just ruined me when they came out with the tech series risers... I never liked the way those bows performed for some reason...
But going back to you saying how hard the Bowtech pulled.... well that all depends on what cams the bow had, draw weight, and whatnot... Every bow company seems to have a harder pulling bow... but you sacrifice that alot of times for speed...
I'm just curious as to what Bowtech you shot

UH OH........Now it's just a matter of time before you own one. All you will think about now is how nice that Mathews felt in your hand. I predict your wallet will get lighter in the near future. Welcome to the other side. The vomitting was really just caused by your uncontrollable excitement!

LOL!!! I don't think I will be jumping on the wagon yet! I will say the bow did have some squeaks and creaks on the draw. Overall I would give it a5 on the 10 scale!:shhh: J/K I am used to the abuse, all my buddies but one shoot a Mathews. No that doesn't tell me anything!!!!:bouncy:
