water down crappie biting at berlin

I have been fishing berlin lake from shore by using jigs and small grubs of different colors, caught small mouth bass and several crappies, nothing big all about 9-10 inches or so, and release everything...

The water is getting lower and lower every day..with cooler weather comming the fish will be putting on the feed.....

went to lake milton the other day and was amazed at how clear the water is compared to berlin...could see several feet down and saw bass-blue gills and I could swear a school of large rainbow trout,???? now I know milton is too warm for trout but these fish look just like rainbows I have caught out west, anybody know for sure what these are????

The state may have released some rainbow trout in this lake although it's not listed in their schedule on the website.

This has me stumped?? I looked very close at these fish and they have the look of rainbow trout, I thought maybe they were a form of shad, but these fish are long have the coloration of trout and are in schools???

I saw them at the route 18 area where there are the sidewalk platforms on both sides to fish from, water clear and deep...am mystified..

that is a stumper ...i would have said big shad this time of the year .. but you ruled that out and i'm not sure if suckers school up like that or not ..... :confused: you got me stumped :dizzy:

If it wasn't for the coloration and shape of the fish I would have said shad too, Oh well.....will keep on asking, maybe someday will find the answer..

went out fishing for crappie and walleye at berlin friday, cold and rainy, should have been a good day but it was not....my friend that owns the boat only caught 3 small crappie and a catfish on a shad rap..

I switched around and used different smaller type in line spinners,and heavy bottom type jigs...caught a small mouth bass, 5 crappie ( all about 9 inches ) and a catfish..... berlin hasn't been very good lately, the crappie used to be 12-14 inches, now 8-9 inches seem to be normal...I catch and release everything, not that I do not like to eat fish, I just have no where to clean and cook them..( long story)..

I think I will take up catfishing, maybe I will then catch large crappie and bass..ha.ha.
