My friend bought his custom made long bow 2 years ago and has been practicing non stop since then. I even got into the act and bought myself an Ashenhiemer bow this year but not as confident as he has become to hunt with it just yet. We hunted Sunday not caring about the heat because deer live out there 24/7 365 through heat, rain, cold, etc. He had two bucks and a doe working up a shelf headed right towards him, he said as the 2 1/2 year old 8 pt walked closer he was focused behind my buddy then my friend heard a noise and out walked this bigger buck. He said that the three bucks started taking turns sparring and he admittley got caught up in the action and what he was witnessing about 10 yds in front of him. He regained his composer and as the bigger buck of the three entered a shooting lane he flung an arrow and it hit the mark. The buck made it about 70 yds and piled up.

Here is my Buddy with his proud trophy!

Thanks guys, I relayed the messages to him last night. Coonie, he had that long bow made by Shane down at Fairfield Outdoors in Lancaster. They traded services, My Buddy Jay is a custom Knife maker, so knife for a bow and he has been tickled ever since.

I could snap a few photos of more detail, he and I shoot alot through the week so gimme a couple of days and I should be able to post them. He loves that bow and I have even shot about 500 arrows with it and have to say it is a fine piece of workmanship.

I would really appreciate it...if you know what he generally charges for his bow work I would like to know that also. You can PM me that info...

I honestly do not know a price since he and my buddy traded custom pieces straight up. If you are near that area of Lancaster you could stop in or call Fairfield outdoors and ask for Shane, he is a real nice guy.

Steer clear. He talks like he makes a good bow and it looks like a good bow, but theres more to a good bow than lip and looks. Im sure he gets a few of them right, but not mine. Its tillered wrong -nock needs to be a quarter inch below the shelf for the broadheads to hit with field points- said "he didnt need to tiller any of them", stacks past 27 inches and has handshock galore unless you shoot way heavy arrows for the weight because the only place the limbs flex is 2 inches from the fade outs-think of them as 26 inch static tips, I guess- and theres white spots thoughout the glass- said "those wont hurt anything unless they get bigger". He said it was fine to shoot though and that Id have to learn to adjust to where the broadheads hit, so I guess im out the money.

Buy a martin or a bear at least they have a warranty and a reputation.
