Okay, right off the bat, I know I'm new on the Ohio page and that may make some skeptical. I simply am looking for a place that I and a couple of friends from the Liberty, IN area would be able to do some dove hunting next year. A lease of some kind would be fine with any details to be worked out. I would like to stay within a half hour of the Ohio-Indiana border and south of I-70. If anyone knows of anything available, please contact me, thank you. Dean
Take 'em down to Rush Rush or Darke Wildlife area. ODNR has fields and draws for certian field/days. Both pretty close to Liberty, 30 to 45 minutes.
Just an FYI...
Lease + Ohio = Fighting words :tsk:

Thanks for the info. Just curious, why are they fighting words? I'd be happy to forgo that part in exchange for a little helping out between morning and afternoon shooting. Again thanks.
I'd tell you to do a search but most of the threads get deleted.
Bottom line, a lot of us Ohio guys are losing a lot hunting ground that they've been hunting for years on a handshake and Christmas card to oos hunters with deep pockets.

Okay, maybe a better way to put things would be to say "If anyone knows of or has access to dove hunting land for the 08 season, and has 1 to 3 spots available for hunters who are very respectful of the land and the landowners wishes, please contact me."

I have a farm I dove hunt on and kill 100's of them each year with just a handshake. Finding them takes a lot of work, but it is well worth it. There is no need to lease in Ohio. Spend a day knocking on doors and you'll find a place to hunt. Will you share it with someone? Maybe, but who cares if the property is big enough. I dove hunt on probably 600-800 acres and he lets probably 15 guys hunt including his farm hands. I never have a problem finding a place to hunt. I have 4 dove fields, almost 2 dozen properties to waterfowl hunt on, and 4-5 deer hunting properties including my own. All except 1 (our farm) was granted just by asking.

Leasing would be my last option for hunting of any kind. I'm a diesel mechanic, not independantly wealthy. I wish I had the extra time to travel to southern Ohio, spend a couple of days during the summer knocking on doors. That's just not possible. I'm not trying to take anyone's hunting spots away, I know how that feels. When I said I was looking for a dove hunting lease, I ment something along the lines of $25 a day to have a spot to set on my bucket. If a $25 access fee I'm willing to pay someone for saving me the time I don't have looking makes anyone upset, sorry. I guess it will be just easier to keep the extra dollars I would have spent on non-resident license, lodging, food, fuel, and supplies in my pocket. To all the best.
