Just curious if anyone has busted one of them CC birds?? I haven't been down that way in a while to see the pics at Spillway. I saw on the count for opening day they only killed 10 I think in Clinton. I have talked to some guys that hunt down that way a little and they said the youth hunt messed them up bad. Every spot that they knew held birds got busted up by the youths. I even saw they killed one here in Montgomery County. That's unusual. Keep knocking their heads off. I'm headed back down to southern Ohio late this week. I'm going to give the weekend a rest. Too many weekend warriors out still, even on private land!! Probably get out Thurs and Fri.

10 Point,
I live in Miamisburg and have a couple of hunting buddies who hunt the area lakes. They have hunted CC but said ther was much more activity at Rocky Fork and on private land around Cowan. I personally stay away from these areas due to the pressure with exception to the waterfowl hunting on Cowan Lake, we have a blind down there and I usually hunt the later season if the lake doesn't freeze too early.
On another post I read from you you were considering moving to Cowan for ducks instead of CC and I can tell you the last 3 years have not been that good at Cowan. The blind we have on Cowan is one of the best spots on the lake and 4 of us rotate hunting from the blind. Over the last 3 years we've only taken 11 ducks and 17 geese and 2 of us are in that blind 3-4 days each week of the total season! Those are terrible numbers to say the least. We see a good number of birds flying high overhead or even landing in the middle of the lake but they don't decoy very well. We put out anywhere from 40 to 60 decoys (mostly G&H bluebills, mallards and canadaians) at times too and this doesn't seem to help bring them any closer. Last year we killed more birds on cloudy or rainy days but saw more on bright sunny days which I'd say is typical at Cowan.
The sad thing is less than 1/4 mile from home is a new housing development with a new pond (small lake) and every morning there are literally hunreds of mallards and canadians on the water! I drive over an hour to a rural area lake and see 5-10 birds the whole week........something just isn't right about this!

Just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who got after one of them CC birds the other day in a rain storm. He said he was gobbling his brains out, but never would come in. The rain made him leave early as it was coming down in buckets after about an hour after daylight.
