Did anyone see that piece on the history channel where the guy made his own arrows. He knapped the head out of some sort of rock using elk bow and antler. Then he straighten a branch using the elk antler and fire. He used turkey feathers for fletchings and used pine sap and elk sinew to attach the feathers and the head.

It look pretty easy, but I'm sure it takes alot of practice. I think I'm going to try it when I get the chance.

Just out of curiosity, but what exactly is sinew?

Sinew is the real traditional way, but it breaks down if it ever gets wet. You can get artificial sinew at some traditional shops...or use monofilament fishing line:D

Steve,

Did you make those or did you find them?

You know I have never found an arrow head before.

TF, try it! A few pointers (no pun). I used deer back strap sinew.
It's long and easier to work with. the most important thing on the arrow if you are going to hunt with it,is to taper the shaft where it conects to the head. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! If its blunt it will slow down the arrow to much. I glue the head into a well fitted shaft. then I scrape it to a long taper and sand it smooth. I then wrap it wth real sinew and give it a coat of vanish to seal it.
I then melt some bee's wax on the point and sinew to make it slide in even more smoothly. If you need more info E-mail me.
