What if we had some gay members on here and they took offense to that remark.
This day and time , a joke like that could get you sued.
I think it might have upset Big H a little, he said he spit all over the computer screen when he read what you wrote.

Hi guys! Wanted to let you know that it has been announced that if a hunter does not check in for your team by noon Monday the 17th, they will be replaced at random from the alternate list.
I want to wish you all the best of luck. This is shaping up into a neat contest and I'm really impressed with everyone's avid interest and participation. I think other sites are already taking the "OS approach" in their contests ;) :D Let's have some fun and harvest some deer, share some stories...everybody wins!!! :bouncy:
Hunt hard and ethical and by all means be safe :)

We own up against the club on the south side.
I have hunted coyotes on the club, last year we got seven or eight down thier. We hunt them with dogs
David Lyngle got us on the club that time.
I have asked about becoming a member but it has a 4 year waiting list from what I hear.

Yep, I know Money, I have traphot with him at various clubs down there, Wayne County, Millersburg, Mt. Eaton, and even over at Mud Run. He would not know me by name, but would if he saw me. You guys seem to put a hurtin on the yotes every year. Obviously the dog that got hit by the car a few years ago got replaced? I heard he was a good one.

Yeh He does A lot of that so he probably know you.
And we have a lot of good young dogs, but it tuff to keep them, we lost a few two years ago got run over on I 70
But still have some very good dogs. After deer season it is a blast shotgun with #4 buck puts the hurt on a yote.

Buckster,
I would assume you're probably near the old cemetary. There are two ways to get into the club. Get a club member to sponsor you for a membership and get on the waiting list. A quicker method might be to become an honorary member which means you allow a free lease on your property for all members to hunt. Dave's heavily involved in the club so he can offer you some good advise as well. Our property borders the north side and we opted for the standard membership. I've yet to yote hunt however I have clipped one with my bow.

I guess you guys are stuck with me! I hunt mostly Lucas county, not the greatest big buck area. I have 6 stands up and have another property I am working out permisson for. My goal for the season is to take 2 does, and hopefully a buck above 130". I have not seen any shooters yet scouting but I know I missed a 12 point last year that would have been over 150", I have not heard of him being shot or hit by a car so I have my fingers crossed he is still around, 4 of us hunted last year till the last day and never saw him agian.
I will lose 14 days of prime hunting taking my boy in the youth hunt and having 2 trips to northern Mich. planned. When I am in town I hunt 4-5 times per week.

Now that we have our name out of the way, all I really care about is beating lungbusters. I will need some help in the buck dept. from you guys. I did some road scouting the other day and saw 5 does within 200 yards of my stand and when they spooked when I stopped they ran right under my stand, doe no problem. I did get some positive news on the buck front 2nd hand from a buddy who talked to the sheriff who patrols the area I hunt. I know the sheriff a little and he has about the same standards as I do and he said he has been seeing 2-3 shooters in the area after dark, that means they are there and I just need to get on them.

I've got a lot of does around here too. Only have seen 3 bucks, the young 8 i posted a pic of, a small 6 pointer and a spike with one side split.
Just down the road I saw a pretty nice 8, with a very tall rack but not much width.
I've got competition for the bucks out here. A neighbor hunts the same woods I do but on the other side. His stand is about 1000 feet away and out of sight. We enter from different sides, but have similar styles and a lot of respect for the woods.

We have a lot of deer bucks big and little and a fair amount of does. The only problem is right time right place as you know. I plan on doing a lot of hunting this year,I have my own buisness so I will spend a lot of time in the tree.
Also have a partner my 11 year old son started shooting a Hoyt he has high hopes
swantucky
09-19-2007, 09:44 PM
My son is also 11 and he is just not ready for the bow yet. He will gun hunt this year and we will see.

09-19-2007, 10:46 PM
My son has three deer and three turkeys under his belt,
the last two were bucks with the crossbow.
He has been pretty lucky his dad likes to hunt and his
Grandpa had a lot of land so he can hunt as a land owner.
Last year my wife and our kids went along and stayed at the cabin while I took him hunting, we sat on a apple tree he missed the first shot but the buck came back for another try. Took all my kids along to find the deer, was pretty neat.

Drove through my spot just before dark agian last night, had 3 nice does 200 yards from my #1 stand and 2 crossing into my #2 stand area. Smack in the middle I did see 1 buck, nothing to brag about but he was probably 18" wide, tough to tell as it was getting dark.

I'll be out Saturday morning in one of my secondary stands where if the opportunity is there I will take a doe. For the evening hunt provided the wind is right I will be perched in my most productive buck stand. I doubt I will even try and take a doe for 2-3 weeks out of this stand unless I have a "gimme" at the old doe that has eluded us for 4 years. I'll bet she will field dress over 120 lbs. She is like a friggin' ninja, she will pick up you blinking at 75 yards. I have had chances at her before but did not want to mess up my "buck" stand.

Hey !!
I just got a PM from Quackerwacker, he said he did not realize he was on team 2.
he said he has been on the site for a couple of weeks now and didnt know how the teams were set up..
How do we do this, since Swantucky was his alternate.
I dont have a problem with him being on our team along with swantucky, I wouldnt know what to do about the points.

09-26-2007, 07:05 PM
bowtech777, question...
Where was quackerwacker on the site  I believe I checked for recent posts before we brought in alternates, we posted the rosters and communicated what was going on with the contest well...at least I think we did.
That said, he is still welcome to be part of your team. It's all for fun anyways. But...and there's always a but, swantucky's scores will count towards the team score. The rosters are set as posted in the roster thread. Or and there's always an or, if another team needs a hunter before Friday 5pm, quackerwacker can be drawn as an alternate.
So let it be written, so let it be done :)

my wife and I was coming back from the Video store, and right at the Greenbriar middle school in Parma, is a small patch of woods, that is maybe 300 yards long by 100 yards wide that runs next to the schools soccer fields.
Well I happened to look over that way and seen 4 bucks and 1 doe with 2 small ones with her.
Pulled the explorer up in the drive and drove just about 30 yards from them.
3 nice bucks and one smaller 6 point.
The biggest looked to have about a 18 - 19 inch spread and really tall rack medium mass.
But I thought if I cant be in the woods today, its still nice to get to see a few nice bucks anyways.

Thanks guys,
Well, the Drs say I'm better. I sure don't feel like it. This one is going to take a while to recover from as far as hunting goes. It will be a while before I can pull my bow and climb a tree.

All I can say is listen to the Dr. and don't rush it. 10-12 years ago I tried to draw my bow well before the Dr. cleared me to do so and ripped open an incision from a surgery I had. It hurt.

The Lord has really blessed my wife and I .
The Bible says... Blessed is the man whos quiver is full.
I am so unworthy of such an awesome blessing from my heavenly father.
I just pray to be the best father I can possibly be and that the Lord makes me the father he would have me to be.

I wasn't out, but my trusty eye in the woods was. My grandson pulled my sd card and it had 200+ pics, mostly does. There were a few of a little fork prong that needs a few more years of "home cooking" before he is a shooter.

I did not hunt Friday after work as planned, got stuff done around the house. Sat. pm I did not even see a squirrel. Today I got out agian in the afternoon and saw no deer from stand. I climbed down at the end of legal time and jumped one 40 yards from my stand. I walked the road back and there were three in the grass field, which I figured they would be with the wind. I really wish the wind would lay down and things would cool off.

I was planning on going out today (Sunday) after morning Worship at Church, but My parents came in from West Virginia to see our baby girl.
I am still debating, but I think it would be rude to go and not be here with my parents, so its looking like next weekend for me.
I didnt go out Saturday ( Yesterday ), because the wind was blowin about 35 miles an hour and it was just plain out nasty out there.
cant afford to get sick with the baby at home.
Now its a beautiful day and my parents are coming over.
Well, Gotta know where my priorities really are.

I am posting this from the hotel room.
I missed the opportunity at a decent 8 point tonight, was hunting from the ground ( Couldnt find a suitable tree to get in) , had a approx. 17 inch spread, not real high but a pretty rack none the less.
I had 3 wrist size saplings blocking my shot, and I took one small step back with my left foot to clear the saplings and I stepped outside of the area I cleared of leaves which made a very nice crunching sound and he heard it and peaked around the tree and looked right at me.
Game Over, I knew it was done when I heard the leaves crunch, I could of kicked myself.
I have a hunt in the morning before I head home, so hopefully I can put my tag on something tomorrow.

I spent last week up north in Mich. I got home early enough yesterday to get out for a couple hours. Had a doe and 2 fawns come in. I shot the doe, we backed off the trail last night because we thought we were pushing her. I took my boy out for the youth hunt this morning and myh buddies tracked and found her for me. We got some pics and her out of the woods. Stopped at the check station and have her hanging in the garage. I'll gets some pics up later, ANOTHER 5 POINTS for THE WIDOEMAKERS!!!

So they still call it hunting?
I've been out, but it more like a challenge of mind versus the elements than hunting. The gun season really spooked the deer, and I have yet to see any antlers. The doe seem to be plentiful, but still in the heavier cover.

I've been out a few times, but not seeing shooters within range. The small section of woods I hunt just hasn't had the signs of big bucks this year. I only saw a couple scrapes and a few rubs. The trails leading to and from the bedding areas show little signs of activity. I do have does showing up at the feeder every morning, but other than a small 5 pointer, I haven't seen any bucks since early on.
The weather sucks every chance I have to hunt. Gun week was a bust. I never shouldered my shot gun. The special weekend wasn't much better. I shot over a doe at 40 yards on Saturday. I wasn't out on Sunday because of the high winds again. Muzzy season is a few days away, hopefully we'll get a day or two without the high winds.
