Hey guys! Just starting off the team thread so we can all check in. I'll be hunting in Muskingum and Morgan counties this year. Starting to count down the days. Good Luck to all.

Looks like I'm one of your teammates. I hunt Franklin, Morgan, Vinton, Muskingham, and near Tar Hollow. In Morgan amd Muskingham I hunt AEP property. In Franklin and Tar Hollow I hunt private property.

Any ideas for a name?

I am originally from Morgan County but now live in Muskingum. I have been a guide for a disabled hunter the last 3 years at the Wheelin' Sportsman deer hunt on AEP land outside of McConnelsville. I know that land is home to some big ones and have seen some killed during that hunt each year. As for a name how about Kickers and Stickers, Big Buck Brigade, or Broadhead Brothers- assuming everyone is hunting with a bow. Just some ideas I'm throwing out there.

Hello all, I'll be bowhunting Athens County this fall, wacking as many does as I can and waiting for a big buck in November.

My suggestion for a team name is: Bone Collectors

OHBOWGUY, I work for AEP and an AEP guy from McConnesllville helps run the disabled hunt. If I get the chance I might like to help with it this year. A fiend of mine from my home town has hunted it before. As for our name I'm easy, anything is good for me.

Chopiq, if you can make the time to go it would be well worth your time. Sometimes my hunter and I just shoot the breeze about anything. He doesn't care a whole lot if he gets a deer, just an added bonus. It gives them an opportunity to get out there and enjoy the outdoors, a chance they might not otherwise get. November 9-11. As for a team name we can use anything listed above or come up with a new one. Doesn't matter to me.

Has anyone heard from Uticaduckhunter?

Early water fowl season is open is it not? I bet he's busy. You probably already are aware, but all hunters need to check in by noon Monday the 17th or be replaced randomly from the alternate list. Just trying to keep it fair and fun for all teams.

Best of luck to all of you this season! Be safe!

I don't post here a lot but I have not heard from him. Is there anyway to email him to let him know to log on here and check in?

I really hate to exclude anyone for whatever reason, however we need to move on and get teams set.

Your replacement for uticaduckhunter is Alternate #3...Duffy.

Thanks. Good luck, good hunting and have fun!

Greetings, Team #10! I am privileged to have been selected to join your team. Or should I now say, "OUR" Team! I'll be hunting private land in Summit County that borders the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and yes, I'll be using a firearm, hope that is OK.

As for team names, I have a few to suggest, a couple of which, I admit, have been taken from other sources:

Whack 'em & Stack 'em
Piled Up
Hot Lead and Broadheads (my personal favorite, note the gun reference)
Venison Villains
Backstrap Marauders

What do you think?

Anyway, thanks, guys, I am looking forward to a great season!

My vote goes to Hot Lead and Broadheads, good idea, Duffy.

I must say I'm bit jealous of you hunting so close to Cuyahoga Valley, I've seen some monsters in there driving on the turnpike!

Does anyone have a buck pinned down for opening day? I have trail cam pics of 2 decent 8pts and a gnarly 7 that might get Muzzy'd opening morning!

Hot Lead and Broadheads sounds good to me. I was drawn for the Alum Creek hunt and heard there are some monsters there so I'm putting all my eggs in that basket for my buck. Everyone said that I should see some 130+ bucks there.

Here's the weird looking 7 I'm thinking of taking if he presents a shot. He may have some junk around his bases judging from other pictures we have of him. I think he'd have a cool mount.

Yeah, that 7 has some character to him. Although if he was the first buck I saw this year, I don't think I'd take him. If I don't get p&y or a definite "cull" buck, it's does only for me this year and buck tag soup (which I'm tired of). I just noticed the point he's missing is the brow on his right. Take that back, on second look it's not missing...or is it? just angle and lighting in the pic. Hmmm. Be interesting to try and give him another year to develop and see how tall he got!. Question, is a tine like that generally related to genetics or other factors, injury, being sick at some point, etc.?

Hot Lead and Broadheads has a ring to it! Want to make it official?

Thanks

Welcome aboard Duffy. I think Hot Lead and Broadheads is the best name so far. I don't have any big ones picked out so far but it's still early.

how about backstrap fever for a name

BuckmasterJB
09-20-2007, 10:21 AM
He def has both brow tines, he might be missing a g3? on his right side, hard to say. This is the only picture of him so far, hopefully I can him on film again before the season

I think you nailed the team name Duffy. Best one I have heard. Everybody in agreement?

Anyone hunting Saturday morning besides me?

OHbowguy
09-25-2007, 08:38 PM
Maybe Saturday evening depending on the heat. Also trying to get a front porch built on the house before weather gets too bad. Just not enough hours in the day or even days in the week! Also have a trip to Wyoming for antelope coming up soon. I'll make time for that!!!:bouncy:

Did any team 10 hunters make it out this weekend? I didn't see any thing worth shooting.

BuckmasterJB
10-01-2007, 09:28 AM
I hunted opening morning, passed on some yearlings, had a spike bed down 50 yds from my stand,d got busted by a big momma doe that I would have shot. Nothing for me yet

We must be the quietest team out there. Has anyone been out yet? I haven't been out yet either but all that is about to end come Thursday!

Duffy
10-09-2007, 12:37 PM
We have been pretty quiet.

I haven't gone out yet because of the unseasonable weather, but the landowner where I hunt went out for just an hour Saturday evening and arrowed a nice doe.

I might try to get out a little bit on Saturday. Just my luck, I'll arrow a big one, and it won't count for the contest because I signed up for firearms!

Good luck on Thursday, chopiq!

2 hunts in a row I've been messed up by human traffic in the woods, and both times there were deer close by! hunting a different area tomorrow, let's hope my luck changes

I was out last night and had a big bodied spike walk right under my stand. I couldn't believe how big his body was for just a spike. Also had 3 does about 50 yards out but never came in for a shot.

OHbowguy
10-15-2007, 08:19 PM
I went out for the first time Sunday evening and saw 2 turkeys and a doe and a fawn. Just not the right shot opportunity so I had to let them walk on by. It's still very early in the season and as the temperature drops more I will be out in the woods more. Good Luck everyone.

Was down at Wildcat Hollow yesterday for a muzzleloader hunt but hard to shoot when you don't see anything. Anyone else been out?

Duffy
10-23-2007, 12:45 PM
I haven't been out deer hunting at all with my bow yet. I went to an organized squirrel hunt last weekend, and I've been dove hunting and league skeet shooting, but that will be over soon. There's only so much time.

I need to do some more scouting, however, and I'll be fully dedicated to the gun and muzzleloader seasons when they come around.

The Rack Reapers Team is really kicking it! My hats off to them, but we are really behind! Anybody on Team 10 been out to see anything lately?

chopiq
11-08-2007, 04:26 PM
Hunted 7 days straight, and noting to show for it. Passed up a 10 yard shot on an 8 pointer but it was only about 10" wide. Will hit it hard for the next week. Anyone else seeing anything?

BuckmasterJB
11-08-2007, 04:58 PM
11/7 I saw 4 different bucks between 1 and dark. One was a beautiful 8 point that I was able to draw on but never presented a shot, the other shooter was tall and wide but never never got closer than 50yds. 2 scrub bucks passed by, noses never left the ground. The 2 bigger bucks were following does when they came through, grunting like crazy. The 8pt was the first deer I have drawn on his year

I dropped the ball on a doe that I got the day after Thanksgiving. I was going to use my phone to take a picture of her but it was dead and I didn't have time to go home and get my camera so thats 5 less points we should of had. Sorry, also got a buck during shotgun season but I was registered for bow. ANyone get anything?

chopiq
12-06-2007, 10:02 AM
How'd everyone do? Shot a doe with my bow on Nov 23 and took a small buck during shotgun.

Duffy
12-16-2007, 08:28 AM
I got a large-bodied but small-racked buck Saturday late. It winds up being 4 points but could have been 6 were it not for the two broken tines.

Unfortunately, no camera, and I was getting late for a church function, so I got it checked and dropped off at the butcher I know, without pictures.

One doe tag remains to be filled.
