One of my clients owns a 65 (50ac. + 15 ac.) acre farm located in central
Ohio, Franklin County, Prairie Township, just west of Columbus near New Rome
-Hillard, just off of Interstate 70, that they are interested in putting up
for a hunting lease this 2007/2008 Bow & Gun Deer Hunting Season. They are
willing to negotiate the details as needed.

This farm is part of a much larger family farming operation that farms well
over 200+ acres of mixed - corn, soybean and wheat fields. There is at
least a minimum of 25-30 acres wooded that are part of a larger tract of
woods of adjacent farm next to scattered ponds. Property has a creek
splitting it down the center and has lots of bottomland - low-lying land to
hunt from.

This place is loaded with deer and has never been leased for hunting in the
past. This area has little to no previous hunting pressure and all the
food/agricultural plots already have been established and rotated for years.
This is private country hunting in an urban setting. A very unique opportunity, that could lead to future lease agreement rights, for the responsible hunter/s.
This is prime Big Buck Territory!

The price of the lease is negotiable and we are willing to hear what you
have to offer. If we accept offer you can be out there scouting for your
deer tomorrow! This may just be the first of many more hunting leasing
opportunities to come with our company and clients.

Please call or email with questions or to make an offer!

Respectfully,

kgloss,
Just out of curiosity, are they experiencing deer damage or something, or is this strictly a money-making "venture?" If they are experiencing deer damage, I am sure there are a number of hunters who would gladly accept permission to hunt the property without having to pay for it.

I just hate to see hunting land going the "way of the lease" in Ohio.

It will ALL be that way in the next 10 years as the older generations die and the kids sell off the property.... The only options will be buy or rent. Just think about it, how many people have permission to hunt on a stranger’s property where the owner is under 50.

As far as I am concerned this is advertising.

Andy - sent you an e-mail.

Would also like advice on how to find property to hunt w/out lease. I am from WV and hunted relatives and friends property for years in WV - used to be you could just walk up to the door and ask permission the day of the hunt - no worries.
Ohio appears slightly different - I just want to hunt on a few acres - have a tree stand and not be in a parade with other hunters -

I am new to ohio - have been fortunate to have a friend take me out to his spot the last two years - 10 wooded acres in the middle of three corn field - 0 for three so far.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hunted a 50 acre farm about a mile north of I-270 last year. It didnt' cost me a penny and I didn't know the guy. I just asked. Though, I am reasonably sure the land owner is older than 50. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

Sounds like a good spot for somebody!

I picked up written permission for another 176 acres in Greene County yesterday on my way home from work by a handshake and a conversation, but the gentleman said he was 76 yrs old.

I talked to him the last 2 seasons since I watched several shooters going up and down his creek line and fencerows from the neighbooring property I could hunt:( Both times we had a good conversation, but he insisted his renter hunted there (I know he doesn't hunt it because I watched the property and drove by it daily to & from work). This year, he told me no again, but after another 30 minutes I was in there for bow only - no firearms & no others tagging along, which suits me just fine.

I am headed out there Sat am to scout it and hang a stand or 2 instead of perching in my other areas as nobody else is out there and it has great potential.

If you get a "no", but have a good talk, get back out there the following year and then again, & again. Just be very nice & don't push them - tell them you enjoy the talk anyway and figured it was worth a shot and it pays dividends:D
