Ok, I have been putting my trail cam out and all I have been getting are a few pictures of does and fawns. Most of the places I put my trail cam are a good distance from the road and pretty hard to get to, because of the steep terrain and how thick everything is. So my question to every one is this. I have been thinking about putting a bait pile in front of my camera. All yea my camera apparently has a slow trigger on it. I don't want to even think about carrying a big bag of corn up the hill or through all the briar's. So what else that would not weigh a lot but may last a week could I use. All suggestions welcomed. I will check back Friday morning before running to the woods with my trail camera.
Thanks,
Whitesnake

You really don't have to take that much corn for it to be effective. If I have a location that is hard to get to or a long hike. I'll put 10 lbs. in my backpack and you really don't even know it's there. Also if you scatter it in front of the camera instead of making one pile it will last longer and cause more triggers as the deer move picking up the pieces. Good luck. Post us some pics when you get them.

A backpack can really help. Like bowhunter1023 said, apples are great, 10 or 20 pounds of corn, I also use those bucklicker blocks they work great too.

I got a better idea and all you have to carry in is a couple of waters, sodas or beers.
Try to hike in as scent free as you can. Drink some of your fluids on the way in. Find a likely spot for a scrape. Take your scent free boot, a branch or an actual deer hoof if ;you have one and scrape an area a couple or three feet in diameter. The spot must have a good licking branch above it, not too high and not too low. Urinate in the scrape (you can drop some doe urine in there too) and then with scent free gloved hands kinda snap the branch near the end maybe remove a leave(s), just enough to be noticed not necessarily broken off. If you have some gland lure you could try it here on the branch. Remember, it's just like perfume or cologne, a little goes a long way. But the right product, used sparingly and timely, can work.
If it's in a good location, the deer should take over after that. Hang your trail cams and your stands on the trail to and from the scrape (morning, evening) playing the winds because it'll likely be their noses that get the deer to find the "scrape". If you don't see what you're after, pick another location, possibly on another trail, and creep your setup nearer to the likely bedding areas (get more agressive). The locations should be along the edges of the trail or just off the edges.
If it's as secluded and lightly pressured as you say, those bucks will visit them during the daylight hours during the rut. You just gotta be there to see them ;) :) :D
