This is just a preview of what we will be working on this Sunday. This is the plot I am most excited about. This spot has been under my nose for nearly three seasons and I have basically ignored because I just wasn't sold on it. After looking for a spot to plant a larger plot that I could use a tractor for, and a little help from my good buddy milo, we pin-pointed this as an area to check out. After walking it again, I was sold...
This is an inside corner of our far hay field. We cut the upper portion, but haven't fooled with the area close to the tree line. Just to the left of the first picture about 30 yards is a super thick locust patch that is about 50 yards by 30 yards. I have witnessed several deer leaving this spot last year and killed a huge doe with my CVA that had just left that spot. As they walk N (From left to right on the first picture) they follow the top of the ridge. Right off this wood line it drops down into our bottom. When they get to the corner, they turn and head E to the neighbors which is super thick. There are several oaks along this route, including a 100 year old monster right at the corner. If they choose to drop down into the bottom instead of wrap around the corner, there is a trail at 20 yards directly below the stand. I can hunt this stand on a W/SW/SE/E wind due to the terrain and its location. And the access is as easy as walking 400 yards through our hay fields hugging the fence line and then turning W and following the mowed trail right to the base of the tree.
I will follow up with finished pics and a description of what we planted next week.
The start…

If you look closely you can see a stand. By far my best hang ever.
