Hey guys, I was wandering if anyone is picking up any hybrids. I fish from East Liverpool to Marrietta. I fish the Ohio and Muskingum, I know it may be a little warm and late in the season but I didn't pick up any numbers in the spring and was wandering if I should make a trip down or just wait.

Went last Wednesday for a couple hours. Managed 15 of them. Most were in the 3-7lb range.

Guess you haven't been fishing for them much. On a good day you can pick up twice that many.

Thanks for posting guys, I usually start back down in mid October, but the way the weather has been I don't want to drive down and get skunked. we need rain! Ox what were you catching them on? I fish from East Liverpool to Marietta. The Ohio and Muskingum, I mainly throw jigs. 3-7 pound that is a pretty good day, bet you felt it too! I can't believe the power those fish have! My biggest to date is @ 7 lb. I have had a couple on that looked and felt a lot bigger.

I was using 3oz spoons. You're right about power. They feel like you hooked into a school bus when they first hit. Here's one that went a hair over 10lbs earlier this summer. It was a bit too aggressive when it hit as you can see.

What dam is that? I need to get a big rod. I need a fast tip but I don't want a real heavy rod. you throwin up into the gates to get them? When we fish Cumberland we stand up on the wall and drift back under the gate.

Here is my biggest, caught this spring at a warm water discharge. We got there too late. We hooked up first 3 casts then nothing. Caught on 4" Walleye Assasin, these thing have been deadly this year on Hybrids!

That'd be the Meldahl dam near Maysville. I use a 13' Breakaway rod. It's a fairly lightweight rod at 16oz, but powerful enough to throw the spoons around 100 yards out.

You get true Rockfish down there have you caught any? We fish Raystown Lake for big landlocked Stripers. I have heard of guys catching 20 lbers down your way. Where did you get the rod? I fish St. Croix and have looked in to making my own but I don't have that kind of jack layin around so I need to buy one. I gotta ged to bed, again thanks for the posts.

Yeah we do get some frome time to time. Managed to catch a couple last year. One was 16lbs, the other was right at 20lbs. I didn't catch any this summer but know several of the regulars who did with the biggest going 25lbs caught about a month ago. I picked my rod up off of ebay. My backup rod, which is in the background of the hybrid picture, is a 11' St Croix. Good rod too.

You like the Croix? I want no less than 9' that way I can go over to the coast and do some surf-casting. Are you an Agitator (spelling) guy? I see these guys chucking spoons under Agitators up in the gates, can be deadly.

I fish down around the Meldahl dam and have caught 2 over 15 lbs this year.. they are really starting to run right now with two caught that went over 30 lbs last week.. don't know what kind of size you catch up your way but until this year I have never caught one over 10 lbs. and never heard of one over 30 anywhere in the river but they are here this year for sure!

The croix seems doesn't quite seem stiff enough for me, but it's a good lightweight rod that will do the trick. It's 11' long. I usually chuck the spoons near the edges of the white water as it comes out of the gates. Bowtech, I assume the 15lb and 30lb fish are true stripers, not hybrids? I've heard of several true stripers going 25lbs plus being caught this fall. May have to get back down there again soon.

I have been chasing a 30' for @ 5years now. I have fished Raystown Lake 4 times and have only caught 1 dink. I have a buddy who lives close to Cincy, I may be heading down your way in the spring. Thanks for the updates:)

I've also fished raystown lake, I had one on the line that the guide estimated to be 30lbs, but it threw the hook right at the boat. The biggest I've caught in the river was 22lbs. If you head down this Spring, give me a holler. Will try to set you up if I can't meet you down there.

Thanks man, What guide service did you fish with? If you want pm me I don't know if that is cool to give them free advertisements. The service we had was pretty bad, but they made things right. We got a free trip out of the deal. I also have a connection over there that put us on some crazy Smallies, I mean 5-6 pounders!!!!! I take my little boat over once or twice a year, I had a giant striper follow a Lucky Craft crank right to the boat! Anyway, I love that flippin lake, so yeah I will look you up if I get down that way in the Spring. Thanks again!:D

Just checking in and keeping things moving. It is time to start hitting it pretty hard. We are gonna start fishing the creeks and discharges first usually pick up some pigs this time of year. How is the water? Looks good up in T-county, but that is the Tuscarawas River, but usually when it is good here it is rocking on the Ohio.

The Ohio is finally starting to settle down some. Warmer temps the next couple days should find me fishing the mouths of tribs.
