First of all I just want to say you guys sure have got some very nice pics, I especially liked the contest that was run earlier. Buckslayer got some real nice deer and hated to here of the camera getting stole, I hope you get another one soon and post some more pics. Some of you guys might remember when I posted this last year, if not heres the link... http://www.ohiosportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12876

since I didn't manage to get him last year what do you guys think of him now, how much more if any do you think he has gained in score...he sure is a big deer here in NC and I hope once again to get a crack at him before my trips to the big buck state:bouncy:

What a great deer regardless of what state he is in. I think he has grown some, but in my opinion (dont proclaim to be an expert), I think he has added more in mass then anything else, although he does appear wider which I would assume means his main beams added some length. It does look like he lost soem length on his brow tines, but it may just look that way becuase he has added some mass.

A few things about this deer, he may not net high but would gross pretty good. I say this because he has mass, good tine length throughout, and fairly long main beams, hell he is pretty wide and his main beams still curl around and almost project out to the tip of his nose (not very common and equals a good main beam score).

The only things his rack would get dinged on are his fairly short brow tines (who cares), and the probable major deducution for the right G-3/4 potentially sharing a common base (big side to side difference).

Regardless I wouldnt hesitate to shoot this deer its obvioulsy an older mature buck, with a good rack that has character.

Goo luck taking this deer!!

Nothing really, I put out corn when I start putting the cameras out. We have tried to let smaller bucks walk for the last several years, guess it may be paying off a little. This is by far the biggest buck I've seen or got a picture of here. I'm from western NC and it don't happen much. I usually get just as many bear pics as I do deer pics. Most bucks never see this size here. I will be trying once again to outsmart this deer in 10 days as our Archery season opens:bouncy: and this is what I will be spending my time after until the first 11 days of Nov. then I'll be hunting Ohio:bouncy: :bouncy: Heres a few more pics of him...any idea what you think this buck would score? What part NC was you from?
