So its time for a new scouting camera. Moultrie cameras are good for feeding spots or corn piles.. I want a scouting camera if somthing runs by I can get it on camera. I have been looking at the cuddeback cameras but im not sure. I like the camtrakkers. some of the photos i've seen on their page they look good. I want other peoples oppinions from people who use the cameras ups and downs of each and your satisfaction with the camera.

Mark,

Check out this site before you buy anything. Trail Camera Reviews (http://www.chasingame.com/)

I have owned Moultrie, Stealth Cam, and now 2 Cuddeback excites. I hated my Moultries, my Stealth Cam got fried, and I would marry my Cuddebacks if it were legal. I have pictures of deer running by. They are a true trail camera. PM Feed Man about the deals he has running. Very good pricing and he is a good thing going direct from Cuddeback.

I will never waste my money on anything other than a Cuddeback. Well if I win the lottery some day, I may buy a Buckeye Cam. Or go to the bank and get a loan ;) (I have to be nice to BEC. He's helping me out :D) They are awesome cameras, I'm just too poor for one.

I have the camtrakker film version which is awesome quality. I'd love one of their digitals but its out of my price range right now. Im in the process of building a homebrew which is not too hard with the guidance from the review page that bowhunter sent you.

All you need to do is go to these two sites: Whitetail Feed and Supply (http://www.whitetailsupply.com/index.html) and PixController (http://www.pixcontroller.com/)

You can also PM Mohican. He hasn't been around much lately, but he is the one that helped me when I wanted to go this route. Very nice guy. Ebay will have a ton of cameras if you want to go that route. It really isn't that hard...

What pixel and what is the approx cost? The theft rate is relatively high in the area I hunt so hanging $300 in the tree is tough.

Their most expensive package is $119. Cheapest is $82. Whitetail Supply Packages (http://www.whitetailsupply.com/XLP-Package.html) Ebay has this to offer: Sony P32 (http://photography.search.ebay.com/sony-p32_Digital-Cameras_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQcoactionZcomp areQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfromZR10QQfs ooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQsabfmtsZ1QQsacatZ299 97QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZ), Sony P41 (http://photography.search.ebay.com/sony-p41_Digital-Cameras_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQcoactionZcomp areQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfromZR10QQfs ooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQsabfmtsZ1QQsacatZ299 97QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQssPageNameZWLRS), Sony S40 (http://photography.search.ebay.com/sony-s40_Digital-Cameras_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR10QQsac atZ29997), Sony S600 (http://photography.search.ebay.com/sony-s600_Digital-Cameras_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR10QQsac atZ29997QQssPageNameZWLRS). Good luck.

A friend of mine got his package at Whitetail Feed and it was pretty much all set. He had to just hack the camera, solder the wires and put it together. The case was all drilled etc. The ultimate is the Sony P41 but they are getting pretty pricey on Ebay due to their popularity with homebrewers. I got my stuff from PixController and the P32 camera but I had to do a little more labor drilling and grinding the case (when I finally get time that is).

The new moultrie cameras are now very good on trigger time, i have the 4 megapixel and on chasin game (a very good website) they say it has like a 1sec trigger time, and i have got pictures of a fun running in front of the camera...I'll look and see if i have the card around here, or it could be in another cam, i will post some pictures of quality also...

I've got the cuddeback expert and I love it. You cant't beat the trigger speed on that thing. I also like the battery life that it has, I can get over a thousand pics on one set of batteries. The third option I like on it is the locking capability that it has. I have a couple of friends that have Moultrie and they have been doing a great job. I noticed that the batter life isn't as good, unless you got the solar panel recharger. Now that would be the way to go. Good Luck, Hope this helps!

I would go with cuddeback...hands down, there's some out there that claim to be quicker, but it depends on if you want to spend $1000 or $350, I'd go with cuddeback

That was good, but the deer looks like it was running straight away from the camera. When I think of camera speed. I think of the deer walking directly perpendicular from the cam. Just my two cents!!! I must say that the quality seems to be good on that camera.

I have been busy with my main line of work and my two side businesses, modifying game cameras and writing outdoor articles. The P41 is by far the fastest camera out there followed by the P32, W35, S40 and S600 as far as the Sonys go. The S600 gives you the best flash range. I have a W35 in the field now and it is a quick camera and a 7.2 meg. The P41 is an easy hack for those who would like to tackle it but the problem is finding one for a good price. Ebay is sky high so you might want to check out Craigs list in your area.

The prices are starting to fall on many of the commercial cameras but I still enjoy the satisfaction of building my own. If you guys have any questions about building your own just pm me and I will be glad to help you out.
