Might just want to contact the man, the myth, the legend Mike Rex about it. you would think the BBBC would have a listing of entries on there website, but they do not.:mischeif:

Actually, a deer killed in 1995 down here was the No 1 in the state until Beatty killed his non-typ. The one killed in 1996 was the largest killed for that year, I think he scored 236 or something like that. Many of the locals around here fly rumors about Buford's deer, like they always do anytime some one kills a truly big one, but as far as I know the DNR never raised too many questions about the legality of the kill. He was a great deer and my father in law had video of him in his yard in 1995, he was a dandy!

Makes me mad that the BBBC doesn't have a databse of entries. You should be able to easily get on there and view all entires in a PDF style format. Not to mention a listing of Top-10 bow kills and gun kills, Top-10 Typicals and Non-Typicals, Top-10 by county, and they should have a story a lenghty write-up about the top two deer in the state. Not that we don't all know about Beatty's and Brad's deer, but show some freaking pride in your state and the record books. If they truly document all those entries, it would take a week to make all that happen if you knew how to do it.

I found an article in the May 1997 issue of the Ohio Sportsman magazine. It states that he sold it to a group of businessmen who refused to co-operate with official scores from the BBBC. Therefore neither Buford or his buck were recognized by the BBBC. Apparently it was green-scored as a 24-point non-typical at 226. It would have been the top non-typical for the year if it was entered.
