Just spent three days on Erie, fished with our normal captain for three days out of Marblehead.
First two days we ran out to the area of Middle Sister area with the pack. We got 26 eyes on Friday and 21 on Saturday. The average weight of the fish here were 2 lbs. each. Sunday we went east past Cedar point and out from Saw Mill Creek. Here we got 20 with the average fish 3 lbs each.
We were throwing mostly gold earie dearie's and some gold harness's. Some of us had luck with the dark green and silver earie dearies later in the day.
The bad thing of the whole trip was the big mayfly hatch a week earlier. That usually slows the catch down with the fish feeding on them. But what the heck there is always another trip we can take, besides now we need some perch in the freezer.

Good to hear you got some nice eyes. My friend was up on Saturday and they worked their tail off to boat 22 eyes casting. It should get better between now and August.

Sounds like a good triop to me.

Fished Gull Shoal Sat in a small tournament (Marine City), 4 of us picked 12 fish including one 28", one 25" and the others around 20" or so.(got us 2nd place and biggest fish). Sun. my dad and I went out to Cedar Point area, we got our 12 but it took some doing. The key was getting out EARLY. I would say about a third of our fish both days came before sunrise, left the dock at 4:15. Also both mornings there was a nice breeze early. Casting mayfly rigs and bottom bouncers(when the wind was up), gold and shiny-chartreuse blades and green/gold beads. Mayflys were not an issue as the fish were full of minnows. Those fish out east are FAT and healthy. Hope that bite holds for a while.

I would like to get up there again in the near future again. I like the short runs to get on the fish. We have gone as far west as west sister. When were out around Middle Sister this past weekend there mayfly slicks all over the water. I agree about the eyes to the east being larger, first time this past sunday that we went to the cedar point area in a long time.

Out about 4 miles from saw mill creek and depth around 38-40 feet. That day most of the fish were caught early down low and they moved up to about 10-15 count later in the day.
Good luck.

We started at 30N/37W line but moved out to cleaner water, about 32N or so. Not sure about depth.
