Just curious as to which type of broad head you all would recommend for hog hunting with a long bow.

I bought a couple packs of Bear lite 120 grain heads at Kmart and thought about using them with my old Gold Tip arrows. Would this be ok, or should I go with something else...

I'm also wondering what wieght of glue on head I should get for my wooden arrows.

Is two blade better or should I go with a three blade? My long bow is a 55 pound draw.

Thanks,

Thunderflight

If you want a great two blade go with Magnus. Those heads will slip though an animal quickly with little effort.
If you want a three blade broadhead go with a Thunderhead 125. Great for breaking bone and passes though nicely.

For hog hunting with a longbow, I would use a two blade head, and choose the shot wisely. Two blades will penatrate better than three. You'll need everything you can get to get through that shoulder plate. As Še§perado said, Magnus makes a great head, as does Zwickey. I'm sure the Bear broadheads will work also, though I've never used them. I've used the others, I like the sharper points they come with. As George said, make sure they fly straight and are RAZOR sharp (you'll need to sharpen them). Hogs are tough animals.

The only plates I've heard of are on big boar. Sow's and smaller hogs aren't that bad.

I had a friend shoot a huge boar with a .308 and just rolled him over with no penetration. My other friend killed it with a 12 gauge five minutes later.

Keep'em coming...
