Things have been alittle slow. It seems the flatheads are spawning right now. Im still picking up a few. My buddy and i both got 4 and 9 lbers respectivly last sat. night but they were full of eggs.

The flatheads are a ways from spawning yet. We've done quite well this year, with 3 of 4 trips producing fish. So far a 27, 38, and a 54. Not to mention countless pesky channel cats.

Yep, they're spawning, but still catchable. My fishing partner has been fishing since June 15 and has consistently been catching quality fish. Tuesday was my first trip since getting back from vacation. I was skunked, but Chad and Robby got a 44 and a 39.
is it real easy to catch these fish on the ohio river ? or hard and what bait do you guys use?

Its easy if you know what to use and where to use it....try skipjack, shad, and bluegills...id had good luck with those.

i use the biggest chubs i can find...shovelheads prefer minnies live but i have caught them with fresh dead...channels dont care and seem to prefer them dead...also a lot of serious catters going for shovelheads use hand sized gold fish but they are xpensive...i grew my own goldfish once but got attached to them and couldnt use them for bait...:yikes:

Lol. I wouldent say its easy. Its a big river and it takes time to target the big ones. I kno guys who fish smaller rivers that catch more and bigger fish than we do because theres less area to search to find em. good luck!
