To help control the deer population and put delicious meat in the freezer    ;) :D :)
It's not my idea of a "day in the deer woods" but somebuddy has to do it.

speeking of deer walkin up to you. i talked to hunter06 (travis mccune) the other day, he went turkey hunting one morning on his property in Perry county and he had a doe walk up to him and he petted it apparently. It followed him all the way to his truck. he said it was about 2 years old.

i know a guy that missed one with a bow...he was just walking in the woods, came upon the deer that clearly seen him,put its head down to feed paying no attention to him...he uncorked an arrah after walking up to it at 20 yards...the deer just looked at him and continued feeding...so he walks up closer...and the deer pays no attention to him...he draws back at about 15 yards and for some reason decides not to shoot...the deer continues feeding and this guy walks up even closer curious now to how close the deer will let him get to it...at 10 yards he draws again but lets up...and walks even closer...the deer actually feeds nearer to him...and is wagging its tail...all the time...by now its obvious to him this could be a tame deer...so he walks up to it...reaches out his hand and touches it...pets it a while...goes and gets his arrow and goes back home...said he was glad he missed...

A friend of mine built a house in the 4 acres of woods he owns. First fall they are still working late to get ready for winter. A 7 point buck comes strolling out of the woods and just stood there and looked at them. Pretty soon they are petting him! Pretty obvious been pen raised and somehow got loose. No ID tag or anything on him. So at dark thirty they are tired of petting the deer and working, so they tied a bow of orange caution tape around each antler and went in the house. They never saw the deer again but heard how this guy a country mile over was telling the "incredible" story about shooting a 7 point buck. Word slipped out it had caution tape tied to the antlers :nono: My buddy eventually found out who it was and talked with him. Chided him a bit for shooting what should have been to him an obvious tame deer. :coco:

years ago there was a pet deer named bucky, most around chauncey knew of this deer...prolly petted it,and give him a cigarret ...anyway these people i know lived right in the wayne and bucky ran wild but didnt mingle with wild deer...anyway his yearling year they decided to let bucky run free during gun season...soooo they put something around his neck, like a big orange collar with bells and the local radio stations and local cable vision station ran adds all day about please dont shoot bucky...they even xplained where he was and not to hunt that area...(a big mistake)...opening day cars with out of county plates were parked along 33 in a place locals know as circleville(this had never happened during deer season),very close to the wayne national forest hQ...which was not there then but was a rest area...the rest area was full of out of county license plates...the place was overcrowded with hunters...all unsuccessfool i must add...there was a lot of trespassing fines levied...all kinds of fines...bucky was moved to a safe area...and any deer that was in that area was long gone before any hunters arrived...of course the deer were very safe from these loser bozos who prolly didnt know which end the slug came out of...and i venture to say almost all were from a city somewhere...from all of the fines i read in the paper...bucky never reached 2 i believe it was,he was killed by a car on the curve at circleville...just a couple hundred yards from his home...almost everybuddy in the area would drive up past that house where bucky was...if you drove very slow he would come up to your car when you stopped and stick his head thru the window, wanting a treat...his favorite was tobbaco...but some fed him corn,apples...a lot of people knew bucky and came to his aid that gun season when it came on radio and tv that hunters were surrounding the area where he was at...:D
