View Full Version : When is the chase phase of the rut in the Logan/Union county area?
Is it early or late November? In the UP, it is about the first 2 weeks of Nov.
Also, does anyone know how I could find out if my Michigan CCW permit allows me to carry in OH? Is there a reciprocal agreement between the states?
There must be, at least if you consider the guns that go back and forth between Toledo and Detroit. :yikes: :dizzy:
Thanks in advance!

Are you hunting near the Union/Logan County line, or in both counties? If you're hunting in Logan, congrats on finding permission as it is very hard for outsiders. Logan County is as good as any other county in Ohio for big deer. For proof, go to Scrawny's carry out(5 miles North of Bellefontaine on 68), and look at the yearly pictures they keep around. Lots of stud bucks.
As to your question. If you're on a sizeable piece of low pressure land in Logan County between November 4-9, you'll see some shooters. If you're hunting on the line, which I assume means near Honda's 4000 acres, make sure you're not on the company land. It's tempting, but it gets watched very closely.
trekker,
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
I'll be not too far from the plant. My cousin works there and says it's actually 5000 acres and is loaded with turkeys and deer. Yep, I know I can't hunt there.
We went to Winger's in Bellefontaine and had burgers and beer. Nice place. I'll be sure to check out that place you mentioned next time I'm down that way. I must have driven right by it; I took 68 from 33 on the way home.
I have access to a very small piece of land, but it has lots of sign. I've never seen so much roadkill as I did last weekend in Ohio. :yikes:
Still wondering about the CCW permit for those in the know.
