I'm taking my 4 yr old daughter to the Chagrin fly fishing for steelhead tomorrow morning for an hour or two depending on attention span. Hopefully there will still be a bunch of fish in the gravel she should get a real kick out of it! I've got just the place picked out providing there's not too many people there.(banking on a slow thursday morning). I'll post how we did.

If I get one one for her to try to hold onto it should really cool. Gotta get here hooked on it early!! :)

Worm Drowner, It will be where we were at last week, shooting for 8:30 - 9:00 ish.

Took my little girl steelhead fishing today for an hour, she had a blast. There were plenty of fish in on the gravel swimming around and I managed to land one around 23-24" long that she kept to eat with Grandpa tonight. HAd to stop and take a pic with her too.
I later broke off a bigger one around 30". Broke him off twice. Once quickly the other time I had him on for a few. It was a definite #10 fish.

I also hit the Chagrin thursday. My buddy and I fished it before we had to head down the the rifle range in Quantico.

Didn't hit the river till 1100 or so, but landed quite a few fish. One spawned out male was over 10lb, and the smallest fish was a female about 22".

Highlight of the day was taking 2 steelies with a dry fly. I just had to see if it could be done. The answer is YES. Both fish came out up from "deep" (better than 2ft" holes to take a fly on the top. I only had fish rise in a few holes under certain condidtions though. Fish trailing suckers and shad didn't care.

My not so secret baby blue egg, sizes 12-14 was the money fly, but also caught fish on copper johns, prince, pts, brer possum, and a few other small nymphs. I had fish move laterally 6ft or more when I drifted anything big, or bright, or often used flies past them.

A shot of rain, and some cooler air temps sure would be nice, but it doesn't seem to be in the forecast. I plan on making a trip this week from columbus, probibly wednesday, and if conditions are still decent, one next week two. I'm not ready for my 6 month steelhead break.

What was the dry? That's on my list of things to do while the waters low. I've got a few in my box.

was a bushy #14 western adams. Was the only dry I tried though.
