Please take a moment of your time to follow the link provided and show your support to ban Muskellunge spearing on all waters currently approved for stocking by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. I would also urge you to forward this link to all fishermen that you know. To get this to fly we’ll need to show that we have overwhelming support for this issue. http://www.petitiononline.com/nospear/petition.html

Yeah.......if I can't shoot em with my bow-they shouldn't be able to spear 'em!

Worn Drowner,

Don’t let the name fool you, this is probably not the best site to appeal to ethical sportsmen. The culture is highly dogmatic in the belief that if an act is legal it is also ethical.

The culture is highly dogmatic in the belief that if an act is legal it is also ethical.do i sense a hint of dogmatism in that statement(and your sig. line)?kinda sounds like you're saying basically, that this site and/or it's members are more or less, unethical.though there may be some people with questionable ethics found anywhere you want to look,it seems unfair to tag this "culture" with a label like that.

no,i don't bowfish or spearfish
but i am an ethical "ohio sportsman" who tries not to "stereotype"

They had to start spearing for a reason. So just let it be. More northern areas it's legal to bowfish northern pike.

If they are not careful, there will have to be a website to stop the spearing of elitest "sportman".
Roosterfish, your comments are hardly worth commenting on.
i am not a bowfisherman, but i was as a kid. What makes you think your more ethical than me??? I have watched this sight since its inception and i have yet to read a post that i would construe as unethical. Just because you feel different...DONT MAKE YOU RIGHT.
If you feel this sight is full of slob hunters and fisherman, you should probably take your web browseing elsewhere.
Sorry folks, when i see posts like that, it makes my blood boil. Sportsman than want to impose their own set of ethics on others are only one step away from PETA membership.
There are Game laws and regulations for a reason, as long as you dont breakem, you can hunt or fish with me anytime you want.
By the way Fred Bear loved to bowfish, was he unethical?

I tend to agree with Roosterfish, just because it's legal does not make it ethical. Let me clarify my stance again, I'm not against bow fishing or spearing I just feel the need to regulate it more closely on how many can be harvested is all. Not everyone is a slob when it comes to those factions of the sport, but there are plenty out there who do it just to slaughter something. I'm not pointing fingers or at least not my index finger :D.

You have a point about people slaughtering something. Thats why we have hunting. You have to kill it to grill it. But bowfishing a spearing are the same, you have to hunt the fish to kill them. It's not a slaughter, it's legal hunting. All I see here is people crying about hunting and fishing not being ethical. Back when Fred Bear was doing all this , not one person was crying about what he did. But since Peta was created, everything the sportsman does is wrong and the animals have feelings. LOL...You guys really make me sick to have you in the same group with me as a sportsman. Guys, get over it! If you don't like it, don't do it or be around it. This is just my opinion.

Believe me if I ever join, people like you who believe in the non-ethical faction will be the first ones I'd go after. It's the folks who think your way who gives the majority of sportsmen a bad name. Go back and crawl under the rock you came from. The wife wants to join but I wont let her, and if I do let her she will be sure to make life miserable for you un-ethical slobs who try to call themselves sportmen. Go back to the fish market MISFIT, your no sportman by any means of the word and don't belong here. Killing and grilling enough for the table is one thing, putting your fish in a dumpster is another. Is that what they taught them in Minford, killem and leave them lay to rot. You bore me with your ignorance.

bucktail,it sounds like your battle is more with the dnr not regulating bowfishing than anything.if that's so then you would probably have a better chance at getting the results you're looking for by talking to them instead of slamming guys on this site.
your opinions are just that.but they aren't any more or any less important than anyone elses here.
the only way i've ever found to get respect is by 1st giving it.

Majority of sportsman a bad name?????

I would like to know where you got that statistic, Bucktail. Where i am from, the fast majority of sportsman are respected. It seem i may have touched a nerve. To call me or any other sportman on this site, and i quote, "un-ethical slobs who try to call themselves sportmen", is WAY out of line.
As to your wife wanting to join PETA, you wont LET her? sounds like you want to control your woman just like you want to control other sportsmen. If she beleives in something strong enough to become a card-carrying member, i applaud her, even though i completely disagree with her stance.
I agree with MISFIT 110% Keep the Comedy coming !!

Thats my dollars worth:D
