Yes we do have alot of road kill deer and other wild life laying on the roads here in Ohio.
I use to stop and pickup a road kill deer every now the then for baiting coyotes in but now that the game offices can nail you for road side poacing I just drive on by.

In Southern Ohio, they usually clean up the road kill on the main roads and highways. But the side roads are usually left alone. I drive 30 minutes to college every morning on US 52, and i have seen alot of roadkill deer over the past couple years through this drive. I have seen the cleanup crews scraping some of the deer up off of the side of the road. They dont do this often, but when they do decide to clean them up, they usually have a truck load!

Back in Feb. I had about a 140 class buck lay down in the ditch and stayed there until a few weeks ago. Never had the balls to stop and pick him up...since it was on the main highway :D Wish i did now that he is gone!!

It depends on which ODOT district or County you go to as to the cleaning up of roadkill.

It all depends on their budget really.

If you've ever seen the show "Dirty Jobs" there was an episode where the host was traveling with the Ashland County ODOT picking up roadkills. this was in the summer too. The deer were bloated and really smelly of course.
Dirty Jobs is a good show, the host is pretty good.

I drove from Lima to Akron and back today, which put me on 71 N out of Mansfield...2 dead deer laying on the shoulder of the road within a mile of each other and I saw they were still there on the return trip south 7 hours later, wondering whether they had or could yet cause another accident? Unacceptable IMHO, especially with all of the state trucks, patrolmen and contractors I seen...the excuse "it's not my department or the budget won't allow it" don't get it. You got a state truck, are a state contractor or state patrol working/moving in that direction/area, at some point in the day you should be throwing on the flashers, putting out cones and removing those deer... or at least moving them to the median, off the pavement and out of immediate harms way. Safety first
