My intro

Hello my name is Melvin as if my username didnt give it away. I live in Toledo Ohio. Hunt and train a 2 year old Weimaraner (Lily). Like waterfowl and upland bird hunting. This will be my first year attempting turkey. Pretty much have access to only public hunting, but I have fun and make the best of what I have to work with. Hope to get some cool tips and bs with some new people.

Thanks for the welcome. Well im going to try Maumee State Forest. I stumbled upon a few while deer hunting last year. Ive also seen a few on different occasions. I figure what the heck. Cant say I didnt try. I dont know how many actually get harvested from that area.
The other public hunting area I frequent w/ my dog are Resthaven and Turkey Foot. Unsure as to the turkey population out there. Pretty new to the sport just trying to get out and have some fun and learn as much as I can.

i was thinking of going turkey hunting for the first time also.i live in bellevue and go by resthaven frequently and have never seen any turkeys there.but i was wondering if pickeral creek or willow point have a turkey population as i am limited to public land right now also.I drove around those areas tonight to see if i could spot any but didnt.I did have a doe run off by the ranger station at pickeral creek and saw about 30 deer across route 6 in the refuge area but didnt see any turkeys.

How are the doves there? I have only ran my dog for pheasants at Resthaven. I go to La Su An in an attempt to shoot doves. Its a hell of a way to brush up on shooting before waterfowl season.

The dove hunting is not that good to many people but its fun trying i mostly hunt them on privet land. I think my average is 5 doves for 2 boxes of shells:whistle:
