First I will tell what we have to plant. Its about 1/2 acre in a semi shaded spot. All we have to work with is a small disk and plow that we pull behind the 4 wheeler.

With this said, what seed would you recremend for both deer and turkey, given the mentioned conditions?

Thank you:)

There is a seed called "Secret Spot", its pretty hardy and grows well. I would try and plant a mix of brassica and oats, good when it gets colder out!

1/4 acres chuffa
1/4 acres clover
seperate seed types so you can control noxious weeds

Are wanting a "hunting" plot or a food plot just to provide nutritional benifits?
For a general plot for both deer and turkey I would think clover would be the best, but I don't know about in the shade. Does the plot get any sunlight? What's the PH level of you soil?

What DLC said was good, do you want a "harvest" plot or a "nutrtion" plot, if you PH is close to neutral than clover is probably the best of both worlds, but they will hit oats hard during bow season...

Thanks for the replys all.

I want a plot that will provide both nutrition and hunting. So I guess it would be a fall/winter plot. Im not sure on the Ph but I will find out.

Clover gets a lot of publicity but there are better options for colder weather hunting, rye, winter wheat, oats, brassica for deer. Chufa is hard to beat for turkeys, but a feeder and some corn will keep them plenty happy.
