Ive always wondered a few things, thought maybe you guys would know:confused:

question 1: Why is it that some people can sell venision? I see in the back of cabelas catelogs it has wild game venision you can order, and if I'm not mistaken I see it for sale at the Deer & Turkey Expo.

question 2: A guy out the road from my house just built a little cabin in the woods and he keeps some fenced in whitetails. Im his fence he has food plots and such. Why is it that some people can own and keep whitetail?

a couple words...farm deer...if the deer are on a farm where they were purchased from a deer breeder or the deer were born an raised on a farm, with legal permits its no different than beef or pork being bought an sold from farms...its illegal tuh sell wild deer from a free ranging herd...:mischeif:

I think Coonie summed it up pretty good. There is an elk farm not too far from my house. You can go there and buy elk meat fresh from their farm (key word, farm).

If they guy up the road put up a fence and has deer in it, he is supposed to have bought those deer from a breeder and have records to prove it. I know that they busted one of those game farms here recently for not having proper records of all the deer in their pen.

Any "wild game" meat that you legally purchase is farm raised. If you want to raise wild game you need to be inspected by the game warden. If you want to buy something like deer there is an auction twice a year at Mt. Hope.
