Does anyone know at what point the Grand becomes fishable based on the USGS flow infromation? Planning on fishing Sunday and may be bringing three other people so I'm hoping the Grand levels are good so I can find some room for them. Two of them are new to flyfishing steel.(Dad and father-in-law).

You'll probably be ok on the upper reaches of the Grand. The meter is down in Painesville which measures the river after all the creeks (Paine, Mill, Kellogg, Big, etc) have entered. You can start around Indian Point and move eastward (upstream) until you find a place that looks good to try.

I've never actually fished the Grand before so to a degree it will be a crap shoot. It's been muddy every time I try so I've gotten to know the feeders a LOT better. I figure if it's clear we should be able to locate some fish in any part of the river at this point in the season.

Make certain that you also know where the tributaries are in case the river itself is still high and muddy. Check out http://www.lakemetroparks.com for various access points, maps, and also the tributaries. Harpersfield Park is just across the county line in Ashtabula Co and is another good spot. It's also the end of the line as far as steelies go.

I can fish the Grand at 600cfs, But I know where to cross and know where I can go. Last year we couldn't get back in there till the end of the month. Good luck:D
