http://media.graytvinc.com/images/ATV+rider.jpg Bonnie Brown's store in Lawrence County, Ohio is an ATV hot spot, bringing in riders from all over. The state of Ohio is in the top five in the nation in terms of ATV sales and one local group wants to capitalize on that by promoting and marketing the growing system of trails in the Wayne National Forest.
The forest is already a popular place for riders, but some hope to make it even better. The Ohio DNR is giving more than three hundred thousand dollars to add 35 miles of trails, develop new trail heads and open the entire recreation area. Some hope to turn this into Ohio's version of the popular Hatfield McCoy trails in southern West Virginia.

Hmmm Need Tuh Know More Bout This...i Dont Wanna See Them All Over The Forest,legally...its Bad Enough Now With Those Ridin On It Illegally...i Would Be For Managed Areas As They Are Now...but Not For Any Trails That Would Cover A Long Distance Over The Entire Forest...:)

We ride the wayne all the time, id love to see more trails added, and we also go to wv everyyear to ride some of the hatfield and mccoy trails, wayne does alot more work to there trails by making them smooth, its alright but not good for people who want a challenge...

I thought the Hanging Rock area on 650 outside of Ironton, was a popular spot with some challenging trails, it's ran by the Wayne if I'm not mistaken. I have frequented that area alot in the past, but never riding atv's.

i remember the days when it was legal tuh ride motorcycles an even jeeps on the wayne...lot of trails an mudruns was even held...they abused the forest so bad...they kept buildnin new trails for each mudrun...athens motorcycle club...why they could not stay to one trail is beyond me for their competetions...different trails everywhere, some places but 20'apart...an they loved it when it rained, the harder the better, they loved throwin mud an diggin big ruts...many places this caused erosion really bad an even large trees fell down from the erosion...but they cared less...if a trail got too hard because of erosion...they built another...an many trees were cut down to put a trail thru...this is why mudruns an ridin on the forest was stopped...i used to ride those trails...sometimes ridin from chauncey to logan...or chauncey to albany usin aep lands...we could ride to lake hope from chauncey...mainly on woods trails...too many liked throwin dirt, destroyin the forest...an they wouldnt heed the warnings...the forest got closed to atv or motorized vehichles...as it should have...disrespect...of...the...land:D

Wayne will never be like H/M. First it's not the same terrain(by a long shot) and second there is no money to enforce any rules. I've seen people riding double with no helmets with beers in both hands. heck one time they were selling beer right at the trailhead. In order for it to succeed they will have to clean up there act and show others that might want to support this that they are responsible. Haven't seen any signs of this yet. It's a place to ride but I'm not impressed. 2 more hrs SE and I can ride the best.
