I think there's probably some rule about minimum altitude these guys can fly, but they were putting on one heck of a show yesterday about noon. Quite literally just above the trees. They'd fly down into and then back out of a hollow behind our house. They must've done this 6-8 times. Was pretty neat seeing them pull straight up just after they cleared the treeline. You'd not hear anything loud until they were on top of you. Our only worry was the high voltage power lines a quarter mile to the east of these pictures. Guess they know what they're doing though.

Very quiet neighbor! Do they do that very often?

They fly over and dog fight with flares quite a lot, just not usually this low. Figure they probably come from Wright-Pat which is about 2 hrs drive time West of the farm.

That is cool to watch them. I remember a while back I was walking across a field to go squirrel hunting and a A-10 Warthog flew by real low and slow. I waved at the guy and to my surprise he waved back at me. Don't think I would want to point a gun at them LOL.:)

That's an F/A-18 so it's either a Navy or Marine Corps jet.

If the property behind your house is privatly owned then he is in violation of several FAA and military regulations.

I know it looks cool and believe me I love seeing it as much as anyone, but if he crashes and your in his path then it's pretty bad.

Cool pics.

El Loco-
I was wondering if they were allowed to do that.

I had a line of 4 C-130's do a low flyby banking turn over me once. I was going down the road and happened to look in my rearview mirror just as they banked. It was awesome, scared me a little until I noticed what what was going on. They were probably on their way to Mansfield.

I am guessing from your description you live under the Buckeye or Brush Creek MOA (Military Operations Area) which are east of the Cincy area. I checked my Aviation Sectionals and this airspace usually starts at 5,000 feet and up. However, for special excersises they can extend this down to the ground. Those are some pretty sweet pics! Think the pilot was just scouting for a good spot to hang his stand?

Yeah the property is privately owned and we were wondering if they knew someone in the area and were trying to say hello. The farm is located near Waverly, OH. Had one other guy say he thought they were Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets. Can't say I know which jets are which, just thought it was pretty neat watching them do maneuvers. Glad I wasn't back there deer hunting when they came through.

Oxmos:

They run a lot of their training routes towards Waverly. They are not from WPAFB, but instead out of Springfield. WPAFB has all the "big boys" flying out of it, the Fighter base in Springfield has all the cool stuff. I'm nestled in between the 2, WPAFB is 4 miles to the west of me and the small Fighter base is about 6 miles to the east of me. Needless to say the windows on the house get rattled fairly often, gives me chills after being in Operation Des Storm...the 3 kids love to watch them though.

Reminds me nearly daily how fortunate we are to live in this country...would hate to be on the opposing side of our air power.

One picture looks like a super hornet, but in another it looks like a C or A+ model (I worked on F/A-18's for 17 years:) ).

Regardless if it's a training area or not he's WAY to low.

Well the only aircraft stationed in Ohio are F-16's and C-130's and now C-5's at Wright Pat. The A/C in the pictures is probably one from over on the coast and is probably doing a fly-by on someone they know. It's happened in the past and as long as humans fly them it will happen in the future.

I used to fish Lake White down in Waverly and they came over all the time doing different manuevers, pretty neat stuff to see when the fish wasn't biting.

One of my neighbors is a AH-1 Cobra pilot. He's buzzed his house several times. If I was an aviator I'd be doing it too.:mischeif:

I live in Waverly and work for ODOT in Pike County over the summer. I usually see them mock dog fighting over 32 all the time, but I've never seen them this low.
