do any of you have a problem with the metal tag rusting. i seen a deer at the taxidermist down in SC from ohio in 2004 and the tag was completely rusted. Do you have to put anything on it to prevent it?

First you need an actual tag....:16suspect1:
Then if you do actually acquire such a tag, you could put a little oil on it.

my taxidermist puts a clearcoat on it and then paints it to match the color of the antlers, I don't know how that will work on the new tags though since they are printed on rather than punched in

The guy that did mine...Not so sure this guy was a straight shooter since he disappeared with my deposit and my hide I left to get tanned...But makes a grove in the back of the mount and mounts the tag in there so its not hanging on the antelrs but you still have it.
Hope that is alright in case the DNR ever comes over to eat dinner at my house.

i figure I'll keep it on it since I'm from out of state. just didn't want the thing to rust away or look bad.

Any way we could see a close-up picture of that tag??? You know......so we could better help you in the future.

I'd just like him to be honest about it. There is no picture he has produced that shows a tag on OUR Ohio deer that he took back across state lines to brag to his buddies about.
A simple close-up picture of the deer's head with a tag on it and a close-up picture of the tag number would be great......his full name, address, where he checked the deer in at, his mother's maiden name and maybe a copy of his birth certificate would make all this go away.
That's all I ask. Not much if you ask me.
ive got a tag on one of my mounts thta i got in 1990 and it is not rusted.

He's just trying to make us believe he actually tagged it.
He's just trying to make us believe he actually tagged it.
he also made us believe his deer was a great or better than Mike's. If so, you would think he would mount the teeth since older bucks are the hardest to hunt not just the ones with big horns. I thought he said he wasn't coming back to this site?:chicken:

BB, I have a couple Ohio deer that are several years old. The tags aren't rusted at all.
I wouldn't worry about it or what anyone from this site thinks of you and your deer.

Go to the Photo Gallery, double click on buckbacks "legally tagged buck", then, when the image comes up, double click on the picture again, and if you can't see the tag, go buy a new monitor. You may not like the guy, but the tag is there.

Odd......cause you are the only one to see a tag. You are seeing something the rest of us are not.
He could clear it up by posting a pic of the tag ACTUALLY on the deer and the number.
Wouldn't you do that if so many people were on you like flies on poo???
He can't do that because the tag doesn't exist. And any number he shows would be from another deer.
Don't you think he would have cleared this up by now if his deer was taken legally??? I mean c'mon.
I can bet that any other person would have had a pic up ASAP to defend himself.

why would I have to "defend" myself? Everything has been done legal so why should I prove anything to you. Mullskinner has the tag number if you want it so bad pm him. I'm 9 1/2 hours from Ohio now and you (jimmy) not seeing my tag is of little importance to me this late in the game.this game is over, why you keep bringing it up?
Jimmy

Mully has YET to defend you for whatever reason.
Would it kill you to put this to rest??
Post a pic of the deer with a tag on it. Not a big deal. Don't you agree??
You were so proud to show it the first time....show us again.
Listen, dude.....you know what's up. We know what's up. If you can produce a legitimate picture with a tag, I will apologize. Otherwise, you are a poacher.
I'm not the only person calling BS, man. I'm just a little more vocal about it.
But, whatever, do what you want. I sure would hate to have a negative light shown on me for forever.
Like I said.....I'll post a thread with a big old apology directed to you. I've done it before and I'll do it again.

I'm sorry too, I looked and looked at that pic and could never see a tag. But if Jimmy's willing to say there is then there must be. I can make out something on there. I guess in all my pics I had more light in the pic and was more clearly able to see the tag shining.

You know for all the crap that was tossed around about the tag, you would think you could just post a damn close up of the stupid tag so it would put this to rest (something that leaves no doubt). Or just call out the number to eliminate any doubt at all.
Just a way to put an end to it all and go on to something worth while. It almost seems as though you are content not to really prove it once and for all which is your decision no doubt.
I can see something (hi res screen and all) - I also can see where someone is going to say it was "photoshopped" in there.
Just my 2 cents worth - take it or leave it.:)
