Just a quick stab, around mid 160's after deductions, mid-high150's or so. Could get a better guess if I could see the spread or comprehend how long those main beams are....has all the makings of a really good score.

Nice Deer, looks like it was killed right in it's prime.

World Class deer there, has what it takes, mass, tine length, spread, main beams, etc., it has it all. Also the score adds up nicely when you can fill in all the way up to the G5 space.

Thanks Freedomrules3 for getting the pics up, and the rest of you for your thoughts!

Our buddy Ray is 62 years old, a former PA. resident and a U.S. Marine. He has been hunting 50 years(most of it in PA.) and this is his first "trophy". He is old school , so they ARE ALL TROPHIES... Nonetheless, he recognizes that this is a very special deer(even though we had to talk him into mounting it!!!!!:dizzy: ). He has never mounted any of the deer he has killed, and I asure you its in the 100's. Anyway, its special and we are all very thankful here in deer camp to be part it. I'll let everyone know the final tally and the green score as soon as I get the numbers!

Live to Hunt. Hunt to live.

Matt

Oh, BTW - The inside spread is approx. 18 inches, Longest tines are almost 10.5 inches. Thats all I got on prelims for now, but we will get more info soon!

He will net 160's, definite side to side deduction on the G-6 (very front tine before the end of the main beam. Looks liek his beam length is good, brows are decent, the only thing that will not help him is overall mass, and spread. Regardless of what numbers he equates into, he is a magnificent trophy. Thats why thsoe numbers never do the deer justice!

Just looked at the pic again, he has good mass, so circumference measurments will be good. I still say net 160's, but possible 170. Are you sure his spread is only 18"????

Yep, believe it or not he is only about 17&7/8" inside:mad: . He looks alot wider than that doesnt he? You know, after we dragged the big one out of the woods, we got to looking at him real good. He seems to have a small head on him, which makes the rack appear wider. Just a thought... We didnt know how to age him(teeth ring style) accurately, as we were thinking he may be young deer with a giant rack. The taxidermist said he will age him for us soon. Thanks for the input.

Matt

It's always tough from a picture but I think this buck will net over 170" B&C.

I looked at a picture of one last week and guessed it to be mid 170's. The hunter brought it to my home and I green taped it at 192" and change.

The hunter isn't by chance taking the buck to Ashman's in Coshocton is he? If so, I would be happy to stop by and score it for him.

Thanks Mike( I am guessing you are THE Mike Rex I have read about in all the Ohio Hunting Publications),

My buddy Ray already took the deer to a taxidermist recommended by Max's meats in Lodi, Ohio. Man, that would be sweet if the rack scores in the 170's NET. That would put it in the all-time B&C record book, and that is quite an accomplishment. I will let you know on the score.

We are very fortunate to hunt the property we lease. This is not the biggest buck we have harvested off of it. Ill show you some more pics. This is the 4th in 5 years, and we are just learning how to do it right....:)

Talk to ya soon,

Matt

Sounds like you have some good property to hunt and genetics it would be interesting to see the other pics.

Since you are leasing the property I'd personally "clam up" on the location.

Again, good deer and don't leave us hangin on the score. I was originally right there with Mike on the 170" net, then I started contemplating the G6 and realized there wasn't a lot there as far as adding to it. Would like to see that dude make it to 170 though, again, make sure you let us know the green score.

I posted another pic of a beast taken in our 2002 deer camp - its a real beauty! Its in the photo gallery(sorry its such a small pic), and Im too stupid to get it up on this thread, hopefully one of you computer nerds can show me how to do that:biggrin: .....
