My dad just bought a farm in OHIO. I live in Ky and will not be moving onto the property with him. Am I required to purchase a license and deer tag?

welcome to a non resident license unless your mailing address is ohio.

I found this on the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources website:
• Landowners and their children - Are not required to have a hunting license, fur taker permit, deer permit, spring or fall turkey permit or Ohio Wetland Habitat Stamp when they are hunting or trapping on land they own.

Maybe they should be more specific.

It does mention that you need to be an Ohio resident for 6 months.

You will be required to purchase a license and the required stamps since you live out of state, that exemption is for Ohio residents who have resided here at least 6 months and own property. It's a bummer that you can't have the exemption as I believe if you own the property it should not matter where you live since you pay taxes on the property. I got the same problem in another state. :(
