SIDNEY, NE - Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, will build a huge distribution center, retail mega-store and wildlife museum near Wheeling, WV The distribution center, to cover 400,000 square feet in its first construction phase, is expected to open in April 2004. The 175,000-square-foot store, which will include a wildlife museum and television broadcast studio, is scheduled to open in August 2004. Construction will begin this fall.

What visitors to the Cabela's store in Wheeling can expect

Visitors will discover many features unique to Cabela's, including:

* A soaring, atrium-style interior that bathes the fieldstone and timber interior with natural light. Much of the timber has been recovered from fire-swept forests or salvaged from existing buildings, eliminating the need to cut living trees.

* Three freshwater aquariums totaling 55,000 gallons, which will be stocked with fish native to the West Virginia area. The walk-through aquarium display will be accompanied by informative and educational kiosks detailing each species.

* Dual, sweeping grand staircases leading to a mezzanine and a 250-seat restaurant with park-like seating that overlooks the entire store. Patrons will be able to dine on such wild game as elk, caribou, ostrich and buffalo, as well as more conventional fare. The mezzanine will also feature an art gallery featuring wildlife- and outdoor-themed art.

* World-class Gun Library stocked with rare and collectible firearms from around the world. Collectors and enthusiasts will have the opportunity to speak with knowledgeable Product Specialists about sought-after or favorite guns and see some of the finest examples of the gun-makers art.

* A state-of-the-art television studio, which will broadcast original programming.

* A fun and educational shooting gallery for kids and the young-at-heart to enjoy and learn basic shooting skills in a safe environment.

* A full-service fly shop staffed by knowledgeable, experienced associates to provide full service and fine products to novice and experienced fly casters alike.

* Cabela's world-famous Bargain Cave - a Cabela's institution - featuring great deals on returned and discontinued merchandise.

* Indoor archery range where archers can test and fine-tune their equipment.

* Auditorium and education center available for seminars, conferences and conventions.

Well , looking around that area , it could be an orange barrel...LOL. Would be nice to see two whitetails in battle or even turkeys, maybe copy some of the others with bears or an elk. You just never know.
