View Full Version : Best compact rangefinder?
Thinking about getting a new small one handed rangefinder, any suggestions? Anyone try one of the new leupolds?
Nikon prostaff 400. Works great and not too expensive. Try Natchez shooter supplies. They have refurbs for $149. Small and compact, don't need a million dollar rangefinder just for bowhunting.

I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro Scout.
Here are a few quirks with this unit:
In fog it doesn't work at all!
Through the mesh in our Double Bull blind it only will read out to between 30 and 35 yards, no further then that!
Otherwise it works just fine!
i have the bushnell yardage pro 450 .works great for bow huntin.

I also have the bushnell yardage pro 450. I have no complaints about it. It's worked great for me. I also do not have experience with any other range finder.

I have the Bushnell Yardage Pro Scout and it won't take a reading through the blind mesh at all. I also was not impressed with it reading off 3D targets. It does however do and exceptable job reading trees from your hunting location. I have considered upgrading to a better model.

Well, I just looked up the scout and that is not the one I have. I'll have to lookup the model.

Buz, where exactly does Natchez get these refurbs? What was wrong with them? Just curious. I got a Natchex magazine in the mail and they have some good priced equipment. Just wondering, hope you got some answers.
Spoke to a guy at Natchez, says they get these from the factory. What was wrong?.....don't know. But the way I see it, it should be fixed now. They said that they are in limited supply (due to demand), but they advertise them all the time. I had them send me an email when they had them again, so I bought 2, one for myself and one for a buddy. Has worked great all season. Really like the size. Hope it helps.

I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro that works great - works through the mesh on my double bull blind - they all work on the principal of reflecting infra red light - thats why they don't work good in fog cause the reflected light gets diffused - prolly need a laser range finder to use in the fog - just cut a little slit in your mesh to shoot thru if it don't work through the mesh :D  :mischeif:
