Not sure about the rocky but the Chagrin should(borderline for fly) and will be about peak by Sunday with no rain. The fish were jumping at the dam again today. I've heard the Rocky is usually a day behind the Chagrin.
If you fish bait toss all of the above out the window and GO!

How'd it do?
I fished the chagrin today for just over an hour and managed one small but very fresh 20" fish on a white crystal meth. The fish jumped all over the place. Saw plenty of others but I was in kind of a crappy spot. I had to fish where I could find an quick/easy spot due to the limited time I had.

Well i have to say i got really lucky today.I was able to fish the river for a few hours this morning before the water got really nasty.Started of at daybreak and fished till around 830.8 steelies and a whole bunch of them little suckers.Had the area i was at all to myself for the first most productive hour, then the water continually got worse as did the fishing.Water was at about 6 inch visibility when i went on a walk to see what others were doing.Looks like it will be a few days again to clear back up.good news was i saw alot of fish on the move today upriver.

Is this the best time to fish for them?well in my opinion,no,i like em in the fall and when they just come in from the lake when they are silver, fresh and full of spunk.I love the agressiveness of a fresh steelhead bite. And yes i am flyfishing for them.

George,
Ask away at any questions you may have.I am sure you will be able to get answers you nned. Also, this may not be the best time to fish for steel but there are fish out there to be caught right now.And it is not limited to flyfishing.

Give it a whirl George!
Silverbullet,
Do you tend to fish a particular style of fly more than others and if so which? I always struggle with the fall fish and do well in the spring. I try a little of everything fly wise but my best fishing always ends up with nymphs and sucker spawn.

Lance,
FAll fish tend to react better to streamers for me.I run alot of minnow patterns on an erratic retrieve and alot of luck on wollybuggers(size 4 and 6)sometimes these are stripped very slowly along the bottom or juust dead drifted down the current along the current seams.ALot of the fish in the fall take the fly right at the end of the drift when i strip it once or twice. When the water temps start to drop below like 45 i will start running the nymphs and egg patterns but still will throw in bugger now and then.Sounds like you already have the spring down.LAst few falls the name of the game has been low and slow..no matter what the pattern .good luck.
