Hey guys! I am a little down on this year's spring turkey season. For the past 5 years I have gone down to Kentucky with my best friend and hunted with him and his dad on their farm which is about 250 acres. Down there, they have birds all over the place. Now, that doesnt mean it is easy, but you can at least have good interaction and contact with the birds. I hunted central Ohio once last season and didn't see or hear a bird. I hunted Delaware Wildlife Area which has had some up and down years with their birds. I have not seen any this year. During rabbit hunting when there was snow on the ground I did see a few turkey tracks in the snow, but nothing to get excited about. Anyway, this year I am not going to KY as I can't afford it. So, where in central Ohio can I find a good poplulation of turkeys? I have had some people say Richland and Morrow counties are decent, but it's all private and I have no access over there? Has anyone been seeing birds in Delaware county? I was thinking of driving over to the Kokosing Wildlife Area in Knox county. Has anyone hunted turkeys over there? Do they have a lot of birds? Does it get a lot of pressure? If I buy a tag, I would at least like to be in area that has a good # of birds. Sorry, this is long. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If I where you I'd head to the Wayne National Forest.
My father in law used to live down the street from the Delaware state park. I checked it out, but left after seeing a billion foot prints in the mud.
The "Wayne" isn't that far of a drive. That would be my suggestion.

I'm going to head down to Lawrence county and hunt a bit in Delaware. I will be going up that way Thurs. to do a little scouting around. the place in delaware is private property. Trading bowfishing trips for turkey hunts is great.;)

Hey thanks for the advice guys! Deperado you might focus on Lawrence county. I have not been seeing many birds in Delaware county at all from last fall through this month. I have done some scouting and have not seen nor heard much at all. A few days ago I went to a couple spots out in Killdeer Plains which is NW of Marion and I heard some birds gobbling out there. That will likely be my focus. I plan to hunt the weekdays exclusively. Thanks again!
