I know season is still several weeks away, but what is everyone's traditonal opening day plans?? I usually go down to SE Ohio the morning before, listen to where they are roosting at, then go back in the evening and try to roost one. Then be back in there before daylight in the morning to hammer one. My dad is taking off of work the fist two days of season this spring so I'm going to try and get him a bird first and for most. After scouting all of April I should have a good idea what farm out of the six I hunt to hit first. I know one thing, this wait is killing me.
this will be my first time doin this so no real ritual or nothin just goin to where have seen them before and hope one comes into range

Our season opened last week, but I won't be able to go until the first week of April.
The night before I go turkey hunting I like to gather all the beards and spurs from past gobblers I've taken and lay them in a circle made of sea salt. Then I light a bunch of teki torches and dance around them in a loin cloth while I yelp with a diaphram call. After about a half hour I break open a bottle of straight crain alcohol. Then I start dancing around again while I take a shot then spit it out over each tiki torch.
The next morning I almost aways see a turkey.....:)

I go out about a week before and start looking around. They are always on the move. Do some crow calling and owl hooting in the mornings to find where they are and work from there.

I'm going to get up early, go to the same place I went last year, set up my decoys, sit in the place I have setup, do a few short calls and see hwat happens...last year I had birds 5 yards from me.

what i do is i go to the turkey farms up in Greenvill Oh, and i set up my ground blind and i start callin those birds and get the whole dam buch of them all stired up, the as soon as the farmer leaves i take my sons 22 pellet gun and shoot me a damed bird, then when season comes in in i go huting and , then i come home and tell the family i had a great hunt, they dont know the differnce between a farm raised turkey or a whiled one , . lol.lol.:D :D :D :D
My plans are to get up well before daylight, have some coffee, then drive to the place where I've carefully scouted recent activity. I will slip into position near where the BOSS is preparing to fly down from his roost and set up my camo ground blind where I'm in good position to call him within easy range for a shot. When he flies down, I'll give him a couple of soft, seductive clucks with the slate, and he'll respond by gobbling and running toward my position. When he's 25 or 30 yards away, he'll pause to gobble again, and I'll carefully hold the bead on his head and squeeze the trigger...............
But then my plans seldom work out, so I'll probably sleep late, rush to the woods at daylight, and spend the morning listening to gobblers in the distance that just won't respond to calling.
Oh well, it still beats work!

Don't be surpised when the birds are not there where you saw them at during deer season. The birds will change their location from winter to spring. My partner thought the same thing this fall. He would went to the area where they were at last spring and never saw the first turkey. I hope they are there for you CD, but there is a good chance they may have moved to another area.

I figure they will move around alittle, but they should be in that general area somewhere i hope if not will move around some
Thanks for the tip though

Am I ready? Does a bear poop in the woods:D Heck yes I am ready. I got about 15 gobblers located all ready. Now all I have to do is just watch them and make sure they don't make no drastic changes.
