I know that everyone here is waiting for deer season next year, as am I. I can't wait for next year to get here but before it does, theres alot of turkeys that need a shootin. Many peolle on this sight don't have a clue who I am. So I'll tell you, I'm a sohpmore at OU majoring in Spring Turkey 2003. This is my last quarter before classes start to suck ass. My earliest class is 11 on WF, other than that i can hunt any other day of the week week, with access to several hunderd acres of good hunting. Let me say that these are all private access. Anyone who knows what they are doing and has some free time let me know. dt290201@ohiou.edu

I actually did work at 53 Rec, now that i'm down here at OU I only work there over break, and maybe the summers. I worked in the Archery Department for 5 years mostly during High School, can't think of a better job than shootin and workin on bows all day long.

You have probably done some work on my bow. I hunt out there in Helena at RT 590 and RT 6 in the big patch of woods in that NW corner. Some good hunting there! Maybe I'll drop you a visit this summer at the shop.

Don't any of you @$$holes know that is is "GOLF SEASON"....give it a break for awhile fellas, there is life beyond "Deer Camp", really, there is!

hehehe, I'm back!

Been knocking it "dead stiff" on the golf course, I did however see a few deer, a few Turkey, and even a pheasant today, but not a one of them would "make the book" like the "trophy beer girl" I chatted with today!

Hey there Oldhat,

I was wondering what happened to you! Good to hear your golf game is already in mid-season form. I am also knocking it stiff off the tee, the irons are tight and the flatstick is making me the boss of the moss. Nothing over a bogey for me in any round this season. The handicap is standing steady at a 2.9 for an 18 hole round. Good luck and good whacking!

128 Days until archery season opens up and 167 days until Deer Camp !!!! Come on hunting season.

:D

One expensive hobby is enough.
Beside I’m sick to of seeing potential hunting property cleared to make golf courses.
First come the golf course, and then sub divisions………
Golf courses are spring up like dandy lions in central Ohio!

Tailfeathers,

You are right about these golf courses popping up all around with future development as a possibility. It "erks" me too! I love golf and hunting so I guess I have to sit this one out.

You are pretty much right though.

I wonder if we could get these golf course to let us in to shoot all the geese and deer hanging out,Whoops i forgot those golfers love to watch wildlife when they are playing there wonderful game of golf:D Me to right under my tree stand,You now the difference between a golfer and a hunter. The golfer waits for the deer to move so he can play on,A hunter waits for the right quarter shot to play on:D

Golf what a wonderful game
Deer camp what a wonderful hobby

I was hooked up with a golf course in Granville last November.

The wifes family of one of our pilots owns the course and was going to let me hunt on or around it. I ended up shooting two deer on the other property I have access to so I never checked any further into it.

I did call and thank them though.... Never burn any bridges...:)

Rjolenic:

Sounds like we could get a little game going on....I'd have to give you 3/10ths of a shot (I'm a 2.6)...little $20,$20,$20 with 2 down automatic press, press when your "pi$$ed", closeout press, skins, etc.

hehe, I stoked it the other day. I was a sub in a leaque. Anyway, I was playing against the CFO of a farily decent size company. We'll, I had to give this guy 6 pops (I',m a 1 handy as a sub) anyway, the stroke holes...I birdied everyone of them on his butt! I had 6 birds in 9 holes. Didn't even birdy any of the par 5's. This guy thought I was freaking Tiger woods or something, he just watched and kept saying"why arn't you on tour, why arn't you on tour" (little did he know I was playing out of my butt). I swear, this guy would have carried my bag if I woudl have told him to!

Was a really easy course though, only played about 2600 yards for that nine.

Oh, since your a golfer, you'll apreciate this. I went to a "big money scramble" down in Ky last month. One of the guys on my team is on the "Long Drive Tour"....this freaking dude beats it! I'd throw it out there anywhere from 265-290 and this guy would absolutely blow it by me. His longest on the tour is 390 (has to stay in the fairway). He hit one on a par 5 in the scramble that played roughly 513 yards...we hit little knock down p-wedges in from 110 yards. We naturally eagled 2 par 4's....he "cut" driver on 2 diff par 4's that played in the 360 range! When this cat swings, you know how your "parallel at the top" in the back swing?..this dude, on his back-swing had the club-head just over top or behind the ball!

keep your eye out for him if you ever check into the stats on the long drive tour. LasVegas had him ranked 10th in the world when the tour came out there. His name is Rick Fannin.

Ever need a 4th, give me a yell, we could partner up in a best-ball or nasau. If I remember corrrectly, your from Toledo correct?I played college golf and played against (correct me if I am wrong) Toledo State University..was a small school, w/a bunch of hackers that came to an invitational...they could use some help, you should try-out...I don't think any of them carded below an 80...that was 6 years back though!

Oldhat

rjolenic
06-05-2003, 09:02 PM
Sounds good to me Oldhat! We can partner up and get a game going any time you want. Ooooooh .... 3/10ths of a stroke, bring it on!!!!!!!! I never get strokes like that and honestly I'm tired of giving them. Name the game.

Pretty cool story about Mr. Golf Ball Whacker Guy! It's neat to watch them blister it out there 350 - 370 and then watch them "meltdown" with the short game. I know a couple of guys like that, but they aren't on the long drive tour .... that's pretty cool that you had him on your foursome.

By the way, that little school in Toledo is the University of Toledo, they just finished in a tie with the Buckeyes in the regionals of the NCAA not too long ago ... a miserable tie for 18th, but at least our Toledo Rockets are making stride. Don't forget, last years Ohio Ametuer winner was the on University of Toledo golf team as well.

I was once involved with college golf, but they were forced to release me due to excessive partying, womanizing and "TOM FOOLERY". So my stay in division one college golf was short, yet it was fun! Keep it straight and out of trouble!

later,
rjolenic

Cool, didn''t know the OH AM winner came out of there.
Play a lot of golf with a kid that is on Ohio State's Golf Team. Justin Collins is the kids name. Will probably "make it" on the big tour once he is through.

Keep your eye on the Canadian PGA...am sponsoring a kid by the name of Josh Sine on it (I almost made th move to a mini tour back 6 years ago...won a few college tourny's..wife siad "what do we need to do to get you on "a tour"...I told her 2 years of nothing but practice then I'd be ready....couldn't do it though, I hit it well, but there is some guys out there that absolutely flat out "hit-it", send my butt home sucking my finger!

Funny you mention the "melt-down" effect of those long knockers....you hit it right on the head there....inside of 130, the kid didn't even have a club in his bag he could hit....only knows one speed, and that's swing hard! I on the other hand am death from there in.. I hit this little "trrevino" punch spin..love it.

We need a game!

Hey there OLDHAT!

We will get togther someday for a little 18 hole deal and some cocktails afterwards. Let me know if you will ever be in the Toledo area and I will see if I can "pull some strings" and get us out on the historic Inverness Club here. They are hosting the 2003 Senior Open. We have had a few PGA events there and Arnie, Jack and Trevino sem to love the track.

What ever happened to the idea of the Deer camp in your little secret place we were talking about a while ago???

let us know,

Hell, I don't know what ever happened to it...I proposed it and sounded like a few of you were up for it, then it was the "Now lets go to penn", now let's go to zaleski, now let's go here, now let's go there, to tell you the truth, and the way I see it, you guys have a lot of good intentions but I think all of you (including me) has A-D-D!

hehehe, if you guys (or anyone) is ever interested in "hooking up" and hunting, let me know, "I'll be there", but "running around like chickens with your heads cut off is pretty silly" don't ya think.

Not picking on you guys, I have went through the same thing with "groups of guys hunting", one wanted to go "here"
, one wanted to go "there", one wanted to "stay" one wanted to "sit" and one wanted to "bark", finally I said "screw you guys, I'm hunting "right here" instead of running around like an idiot.........get my point?

Anyone and everyone is welcome at my "campfire" (besides for a few from the "other site"......hell, I''ll even hang a few extra stands so you don't have to waste hunting time to do it)....all you gott do is "say so", and it's a good as done.

I was on stand at 0540 or so. Around 0600 I heard a deer milling around behind me. Around 0700 I saw a doe and two fawns.

Around 0830 I repositioned my stand and went to work. It was getting hot and I really needed to get back. I used my thermacell and it kept the bugs off too.

All in all it was a great opening day. I don't normally see alot of deer in this area, but it's all I've got. I was pretty stoked just to see a couple deer.

Keep it simple and stick with what is working. If you can avoid being caught up with the name brand game, you can have a lot of money and shoot just as well as those guys that use that high priced stuff. Just my opinion of course.
